The Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has arrested a man identified as Aaron Kawombe, while trying to smuggle mobile telephones into the country.

Kawombe was arrested on Wednesday after crossing into the Malaba side of Kenya where he bought 15 Itel phones and taped them to his body.

He later boarded a vehicle heading to Mbale. He was, however, arrested at a URA checkpoint in Malaba.

Phones are cheaper in Kenya, so he crossed into a border town in Kenya and bought the phones and was caught by Ugandan officials when he re-entered Uganda.

At least he would have made N100k profit from the cross border runs if he was not caught
