It seems to me that they are carrying out a feasibility and viability study, they are about to unveil something even bigger, we just have to wait for it.
You know Google Nigeria is just like a shadow before now, this is the spark that would set them in full business. And again, Google likes to dominate any country they are, only China and Russia could stop them from being No. 1 in their country. Unfortunately, we're learners here, no single working search engine in Nigeria. Google would make a lot of money here. More companies will run ads as they would now have targeted market. Ads from a Nigerian company will show to Nigerians not to US users that may not buy. So more companies would be interested to set AdWords budget which actually is the soul of Google's income.

Good intentions.

But does anything good last in Nigeria?

The spots will be hackers paradise in future.

Can I get get your email I have a question

[qquote author=investnow2013 post=69761884]Earlier today, I joined other young Innovators and Techpreneurs to attend Google for Nigeria, in Lagos.

It is interesting to know that there are 5 Places in Lagos where you can access free Wifi via Google Station: Ikeja City Mall, Computer Village, Domestic Airport, The Palms, Lekki and Landmark Center. The free fast speed internet stations will expand to Abuja, Onitsha, Kano, Kaduna, Port Harcourt and two other cities in Nigeria.

I also accessed free Internet service from one of these #GoogleStations. Also some of the most searched things in Nigeria in 2018 are: World Cup Fixtures, Wizkid Soco, N-Power, Prepare Banga Soup, Who is the Richest Musician in Nigeria, How to Dance Shaku Shaku, Black Panther, BBNaija and How to Tie Gele.

Technology has forever changed the world we live in. We're online, in one way or another, all day long. Our phones and computers have become reflections of our personalities, our interests, and our identities. They hold much that is important, not just to us but to our country.by Ojooluwa Ibiloye Ohjay[/quote]

I love progress. As much as this sounds like progress, don't complain if unemployment rises. Google gave free Internet at the expense of many companies who are heavily invested in the sector. Can you guys take a moment to find out how many African countries have bought into this Greek gift. I don't think our government think deeply through their actions. I can assure YOU Ethiopia will NEVER allow this happen in their country. Same with Rwanda. I hope you know there are no Uber in those countries I mentioned.

Google just introduced a substitute to a business product for free. If someone here can share with me how it creates jobs and doesn't put more people on the street. I will be happy to hear.

You people should sit down and watch how the quality of life for the people will rise in the coming years. I hope this is a permanent or at least ten year venture. It will benefit the common man a lot.

I know very well Nigerians will flood Fiverr, Quora and Reddit all thanks to this opportunity.

However for a country to reject the offer they should proffer a better solution. Our government is in no position to refuse this. They can also publicize it as one of their many 'achievements'.

I know very well Rwanda offers better. Ethiopa? I don't know. China and India banned Facebook's freebasics in order to encourage already competent local companies to grow through similar services.

I personally don't care. Awoof internet too sweet.

And that is what we call a marketing strategy.

Let me give you a detailed analysis of the impact of this recent development. Its understandable that you are worried about this recent happening, but truth is, this free WiFi is not situated in all states of the FRN, its only few states that will enjoy the social benefit of this wifi. I believe this wifi being a substitute product/good is in no way putting other competitive firms at a loss because the country has 36 states and the 36 states are not all using the free wifi. It can create jobs in the sense that it reduces a company's expenditure on data subscription especially if a company is situated at the place where this wifi is located, this will reduce costs for the company and that cost reduction will in turn lead to an additional employment of labour in the firm. This free wifi no matter how you make constructive criticism about it is a good development, not just for the individuals but for the economy as a whole. It can also create job for someone who decides to open a cyber cafe within the free wifi area, the person will obviously make money without paying a dim for the data subscription and this will lead to increase in income and increase in per capita income is good for the growth of the economy. Don't also forget that this free wifi will lead to a general reduction of price of data subscription by network providers, this in turns help people go online to promote their businesses and firm. Tell me how this won't make a significant impact in the economy's real GDP.
