ROTIMI Amaechi, Transportation Minister, has revealed why Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, will dump the All Progressive Congress, (APC).

Mr Amaechi and the governor where among bigwigs of the then ruling party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who left to the APC prior to 2015 general election.

Tambuwal who was then Speaker of the House of Representatives contested for the state’s governorship and won on the platform of the party.

The Minister who said the federal government was aware of the governor’s plan of defecting from the party hinted that Tambuwal is nursing a presidential ambition hence his decision to leave the APC.

He stated this on Friday while addressing reporters after the inspection of Itakpe-Ajaokuta-Warri project in Delta State.

Amaechi also mentioned the governor of Kwara State, Abdulfatah Ahmed, as one of those already known to be planning their exit from APC. Ahmed had on recently hinted of his intention to decamp.

“No matter what you do, the governor of Sokoto will leave naturally because he had the ambition of being the president in 2019 and even if you take a chicken to him he will still leave. It is same with Kwara,” the former governor of Rivers State said.

“These are people you expect they will leave. They left with members of the National Assembly but they came from the areas that the President is very comfortable. Do you honestly believe that the President will lose election in Sokoto? It is one of his comfort zones,” Amaechi said.

He said no matter who leaves the ruling party at the end of the day, President Muhammad Buhari will still win.

“The next persons that left are from Bauchi and if you bring the president on a sick bed in Bauchi he will win. He has never lost election in that state. If you bring him on a sick bed in Kano, he will win.”

The former governor also said those defecting were doing so because they have realised that their political ambition will not be considered in the party, adding that: “Again, you will say that it happened during our time but we sold our candidate one year but they are doing it six months to the election. It was clear who will be APC candidate one year ahead of time.”

Doing the last presidential campaign, I heard Amaechi saying gone are the days when Buhari will have very little votes in Rivers State.

He should know a time will come when someone's name will np longer win votes on a sickbed when he has become underperforming.

I wonder why all the hullabaloo and panic instigated in the polity.

Tambuwal always wanted to be president and infact was being considered for the post in 2015 so it was expected that he'll leave. Atiku, Kwankwaso both contested against Buhari so it was to be expected. It's to the shame of APC that they we so lacking in foresight that it still sort of took them unawares.

They have a right to move to platforms that would give them a chance to aim for the office and if they win, so be it jare.

Amaechi said that before APC was formed the presidential candidate was already known and the party's roadmap was drawn 1year to election. They all worked towards it and achieved their goal.

What and where is PDP's roadmap to 2019 election?

Anybody that wants to contest against Buhari should forget the Northern States. Those guys will give almost all their votes to Buhari.
No matter how bad the opposition paint Buhari online, he is still loved by most Nigerians.
