I am not in position to question God for making me a nigerian, I am but dust and ashes. I however have reasons to weep for nigeria the land of my nativity. I wish I could leave the shores of this nation for good. I read with pain yesterday the account of the unslaught against our troops in Yobe by some soldiers who were affected. If that report is true and anything to go by then I weep for this country. We thought the era of soldiers being sent to war with scanty weapons to confront a well armed boko haram ended with the last administration, but it is appalling to hear the account of soldiers lamenting over unpaid allowances, hunger and lack of weapons. More painful was the fact that of the 700+ soldiers in that unit, 55 were confirmed killed, 155 escaped the attack while close to 500 were said to still be unaccounted for and strangely there is a media blackout and the government pretends as though nothing happened and we the citizens did not bother to ask questions. The surviving soldiers even reported that since the incident, they have not been visited by the military authorities. One will then wonder whether there was even a search and rescue operation to recover the wounded. What has happened to public conscience in Nigeria? Is the life of a soldier so cheap and valueless? Where are the human rights and civil rights groups? Something is seriously wrong some where. I hope there is no ethnic or religious cleansing going on in the military. These soldiers are not slaves, they are not animals, they are fathers, husbands, brothers, and sons of some people. In saner climes the citizens will take their government to task to come clean on this matter. Where there are lapses or a clear case of sabotage, people are made to face the music to serve as a lesson. The government of the day seem preoccupied with politics and dont give a damn if soldiers die. The US president writes or calls the family of US service men killed in combat. In 2015 I lost my elder brother to this insurgency and no government cares if anyone in crying or grieving. My heart goes out to the family of the slain and missing soldiers who have being sacrificed as slain lambs on the alter of political and ethno-religious interest may God comfort and console them. And to the government of the day who treat her service men as loose tools in a factory may God Almighty send a tsunami against you to sweep you into oblivion https://www.nairaland.com/4647736/exclusive-no-pay-since-may..were |

The Buhari govt is more concerned about missing cows than our missing soldiers |

That's what maximum Rulers do. Gags the media. Lie lie until no one else to speak truth to power. There is anarchy already. War looms. Southerners are being sent to be killed by 'boko haram' NA. All in the name of peace keeping efforts. God dey Watch |
