giles14:I’ve had this same opinion for the past 2 years but let’s five NAF benefit of doubt, that know what they’re doing I guess... it might have something do with the Chinese after sales support we experienced after purchasing the F-7. |

jakeporeshenko:If that's the case how does jf17 fit in ? Given that spares and LRUs will be coming from Chinese production lines via pak...... Won't the after sales service be more affected now ? Also J-10 was never cleared for export |

nemesis8u:It’s not just about the parts, support services in terms of technicians and trainers, I have pictures in *akistani service men (trainers and technicians) working on our C-130s, F7s and super Mushak as far back as 2012 and they still have a sizable presence here, you can’t compare them to the Chinese who couldn’t help us fix a screen on a trainer f7 aircraft which led to the aircraft being grounded for several years. That’s the only thing I could think of on the spot it’s all speculation though, at the end of the day NAF knows what’s best for them and what they want and what they can afford to procure and maintain. All these things factor in. It’s also possible that the contract was signed before this present administration came into power. |

jakeporeshenko:U guys had super mushak in 2012 ? Well the guys were involved in MRO but all spares were coming from the respective OEMs be it China or US. Naf imo wanted to keep safe by going for a sanction proof aircraft but even than that's a tough ask becz if western avionics r included in the same there will be inherent risks wrt sanctions. |

nemesis8u:that makes sense considering the fact that during the early stages of this procurement process, Nigeria was under some kind of covert arms embargo, anyways what are the main western parts on the J10? |

Nem i really got curious as to how NAF managed to tip a helicopter over during taxing/ground run and then i did a little research, the exact same thing happened to a Norwegian SAR AW101 within a week of delivery, could there be a link or some kind of defect from the manufacturer ? both helicopters have main fuselage, tail boom and tail rotors intact but main rotors completely destroyed. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dynamic_rollover

jakeporeshenko:I was talking about jf17 J-10 does not have export clearance from Chinese govt. And I doubt if they will clear it in the near future. There r no western components in j-10 unless u want to include the western COTS Intel chips GPUs rams etc |

jakeporeshenko:Helicopters r temperamental machines ![]() Problem kind of lies with the usage of main rotors and tail rotor arrangement. Coaxial helicopters r kind of more forgiving ie they recover faster from aerodynamic instability with better safety margin Majority of these accidents can be avoided by using helicopter stimulators to train the pilots to all possible emergency scenarios. Anyways some accidents r unavoidable can't do anything about it. Blame Murphy's law ! If u consider the naf accidents as a bad joke than IAF is a fuccking circus ![]() |
