edaolaropin:On the contrary. If this bill is passed, would strengthen the healthcare system. Facilities will be compelled to do the right things because there are now laws . It wouldn't be business as usual anymore. Individuals and the society at large would be protected from harmful practices. In all, people can seek redress in court in events of malpractices. One common example is in the right to know what your treatment options are and what medications you are getting. Another is about the details of your billing. These can no longer be concealed from the patient. The bill might also open new opportunities in terms of Health information management. This comes in the form of patient information protection and accountability. When a patient visits a provider, there is an expectation for privacy. The bill will ensure that facilities are equipped with systems and personnel that would manage patient information in a secured manner. This implies more employment opportunities for certain professional. One area that might be included in the bill is right to be treated (or not to treated). For certain vulnerable populations; like during pregnancy , disability and geriatric patient, assessing health care could be challenging. The bill will give them the right to explore options within the health care system. |

Hmmm.... who are you deceiving. This is not the solution to the problem in the health sector. The bill has been in place before now. The Nigerian government should do the needful. They should replicate what operates in the countries where they go for their medical tourism in Nigeria. |

Dear Nigerians..... come to think of it, the poor don't have access to health care. Because in most teaching hospitals you pay heavily for healthcare services...... from the emergency department to the wards for admission. Numerous laboratory tests and so on. #whichwayforwardnigeria...... |

MissBeulah:You see, this is part of the protections that the bill will offer. When a patient visits any facility, the bill gives the right to demand for details of billing and for the information in them to be explained. Failure to comply becomes a criminal offense and patients could seek damages. The law speculates penalties . Moreover patient bill of rights gives you more autonomy rather than the paternistic tendencies of some doctors. You can refuse treatment ( some test) and still be accorded your due respect. |
