On Thursday, March 29, 2018. President Muhammadu Buhari, together with the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, commissioned the newly built Ikeja Bus Terminal.

The impressive complex was built by the Lagos State Government.

The commissioning of the bus terminal was celebrated amid pomp and pageantry.

However, and contrary to popular understanding, the imposing Ikeja Bus Terminal, at the time of its commissioning, was yet to be fully completed.

Construction work, especially at the rear end of the complex, still needed to be carried out.

Construction work recently continued at the site.

The Ikeja Bus Terminal is one of our flagship transport infrastructure under the State Bus Reform Initiative.

The first phase of this programme will see 13 new Bus terminals introduced. They include major terminals at Oshodi, Yaba, Ojota, Agege and the already completed Tafawa Balewa Bus Terminal.

This will be followed by the introduction of 5,000 new buses into the Lagos economy in the next 3 years. 820 environmentally-friendly high capacity buses will be injected in the first phase of this reform by September 2018.

Also to be built in the Ambode-led government initiative are 300 New Bus Stops, 3 Bus Depots, and Intelligent Transport System which will aid Lagosians to plan their journeys on public transport system.

Oga, this is another reporting from you which has flaws.

How many of the stations are in Ikeja? I guess two.

The one that was commissioned was completed 100% and it's situated along Medical road I guess. Thats the one you displayed its pictures first.

The other one that's still under construction started late last year wasn't commissioned and its by the flyover close to LASUTH.

It is is imperative to give detailed breakdown of the information so as not to mislead people or give some reasons to be throwing shades n tantrums just because of sentiment without knowing the real situation.

I must confess that I really like what you're doing but please always furnish us accurate and detailed information.

Thanks

@autojosh, you are a liar, the new construction is a different project entirely. That land was initially approved for commercial complex but the government stopped it.

no actualy your comment tells a whole lot more about you. Its on posts like this that small minds flood to criticise. The ongoing structure doesnt even look to be in the same compund. Again the stucture is obvioulsly an after thought as it was obviously started well after the bus terminal. But some blogger either to attact clicks or to mislead intentionally brings up this poor report and you jump on it (Who knows, maybe just to garner nairaland likes cos thats how low a lot of people have sunk). the very problem with a lot of our youth. low mental alertness.

If the project is an afterthought, isn't the author justified by calling it an uncompleted project?

Beisides, why is the bus stop not yet operational months after it was completed?

People would just do anything to be noticed. It's amazing how Autojosh's threads gets to front-page and people would think all of his post are authentic.

Just so you know, let me enlighten you a bit.
1. The so called uncompleted project is a shopping mall.
2. It is being constructed by persianas group owners of Palms Mall.
3. It is to be called Simbiat Mall
4. It will house a cinema (Viva), a departmental store (jara), clothing stores (max, puma) and a host of other brands.
5.It hopes to be completed before October.

Cheap blogger looking for online followership. It's ironic how Nairaland has turned to a place to get gossips especially those same gossips and news that have been on several amebo sites. The mods just copy the same news and gossips and quickly send it to the front page.

Autojosh, please always confirm before you come online and post. The construction going on in the background is actually not related to the bus terminus.

A simple research would have confirmed this for you.

This project is being undertaken by CFL.

That structure is not for the bus terminal.
The structure is a mini mall built for the palms.
It's two different projects in entirety.

I past through this site today.

Guess what? The entrance into the construction site is through the finished Bus terminal.

A question for You, sir.

Why would a private construction have it's entrance be through a Government owned facility?

I see we enjoy government deceiving us.

Apparently, someone powerful is building a private investment on a Government own property with the connivance of someone in government.

Well, until the adjoining private "Mall" is completed - which is strategically located by the terminal for a good reason - it is safe to conclude that the Ikeja Bus Terminal is uncompleted.

If I haven't seen the plan of the Mall then I wouldn't be typing here. The mall's connection to the terminal is what makes the project spot on. That project upon completion is going to consolidate the terminal.

A bus terminal shouldn't just be a place where you hurriedly rush to get a bus and rush off. It's supposed to be a place when one can shop, tour and have fun before hopping into the bus. Check out terminus abroad and see if this project is delusional as you state.

The oshodi interchange project will also come with a mall "Oshodi Mall". Is this also a deceptive project? I am not one who delves into politics, but I am calling Autojosh out for spreading false news about that project and politicizing it.

Not cool I must tell you.
