Exactly. There are two sides to this. The financial and the psychological sides. After today, he will be known as the world's most expensive GK and the cameras will always be on him, every single game. The world is waiting to see his first error. Once that happens, it remains to be seen what follows. If it goes bad, £71m will always be the talking point; not net spend.

Don't believe that consolation post. If Chelshit were buying Kovacic for 71m and added Cuntois to the deal to reduce it to 35m, then that's when he'd have been right. Cuntois is getting sold independently, Kovacic is coming on loan from opposite direction. Then Kepa is gonna cost 71m alone. They are paying 71m not 35m. No kind of semantics or "quick Maths" can erase that.
