I would've named the branch and bank but people may see it as a negative marketing strategy being adopted by the other leading top banks. It was on friday, I had to do a withdrawal using my ATM but because I just got the ATM and I haven't done any withdrawal with the ATM, I have since forgotten the PIN I adopted after it was issued to me. I thought it was going to be a tedious process - considering the security factor attached to changing a PIN, to my amusement, I spoke to the lady that attends to such issues, she just told me to bring forth the ATM and she inserted it on a particular POS(looks like it) and she asked me to put the new PIN even without me filling any form or showing that I own the ATM or atleast my signature to confirm if I own the account, because it's very possible that anyone can snatch someone's ATM and request for it to be changed. In three minute the PIN was changed and I made the withdrawal with the ATM using the new password. Is this the norm in other banks? Is it that the lady forget the procedure or she was not well informed? All what I am clamouring for is that if this is the processe it's veru wrong and should be looked into ASAP by all banks. |

The lady must have crosschecked your name with what is on the ATM to the account you have with the bank. This doesn't take time nah but alas she don't then the lady must be a foolish one. |

When the card was first issued to you.. Did you activate it by changing the pin? Through an ATM? |

Demogorgon:I activated it and changed the PIN then made my first withdrawal a week after. Through the sole purpose of opening the account was just for savings. I don't want to use it for daily transactions |

EasternActivist:What I am implying is that the Lady should have atleast issued me a form where my signature will be verified with what I have in my records and if it's not, my request for change of password should've been rejected. Anybody can walk in with a stolen ATM and request for a PIN change, if the process is just to put in a new password immediately. Also, the name of the account holder is always written on the ATM. |

Medley:Ok. Well, i think there's nothing to be worried about but if you feel the security of your card may be compromised, you should endeavour to change the PIN again through the ATM |
