However, I understand Africa is the birthplace of modern humans, and is the source of the geographic expansion of ancestral populations into other regions of the world.

Well, slavery is long gone but mental slavery is prevalent within the mindset of an average black African, where everything white represented quality, superiority, modernity, wealth, a better way of life. As such, they will view any white man/woman as superior to their black counterpart in all aspects. Hooking a whiteman/woman therefore is akin to hitting a jackpot of sorts. It's a guarantee to a Visa to the first world.
