Russia doesn't have the best space teachnology, the United States has. The U.S uses Soyuz cuz they retired their space shuttles in 2011. All that will soon stop, as Space X and Boeing will soon start ferrying American Astronauts to space early next year.

Today American entrepreneurs are flying space craft into near orbit at will and Elon Musk has just tested the most powerful rocket engine ever built which cannot get approval yet due its inherent safety compromises.

In terms of technology America is superior but Russia and China are fast gearing up especially in nuclear advancement and warhead America is good defence wise but Russian are more dangerous and in space science Americans are light year ahead of Russian just that currently only Russia has manned routine space shuttle, china do but theirs is not routine please don't compare Russia and America in any other thing on earth except war, corruption and racistS those guys are worst set of people you will mingle with...........
