I try to avoid commenting on anything immigration because of it's sensitivity to my fellow Nigerians but if I may add my opinion, there's no legitimate way to immigrate to US from Nigeria for now except through family petitions and employment based which is rare.
But you may pursue some student routes if that will ultimately guaranteed legal status is what am not sure of.
I could not have said this in a better way. The game has changed drastically !!! US is no more immigration friendly except through family related migration. Even that would soon come to an end for extended family if the president succeeds. Focus on Canada.

Exactly , even the family petition takes a while . I like the federal skilled program that Canada has . I think people should take adavantage of it while it still lasts. If anyone thinks they can home here illegally today , I really pity them. One should not be deceived by the uncle or friend that has been living here illegally for 20 years. Things have gotten more strict.

Not trying to condone illegal immigration but the US has always been and its still the most lenient and friendly country when it comes to surviving even if a person is undocumented.. An illegal can never get the kind of hope and life in other strict countries in Europe or In Asia. The unofficial rule of thumb for survival for those living in the states illegally has always been "stay out of crime and go about your business and nobody will trouble you" Suprisingly a large percentage of those who are now legal were once "illegal" I dont think any other country in the World has that kind of pathway compared to the US.. And talking about stopping family chain immigration. Isnt it the same chain migration that brought trumps wife and her family(who recently became citizens) ? Dont think they are stopping family based immigration anytime soon.

It’s vary in situations. Before 9/11 , a lot of of things were not checked so it was easier for illegals to assimilate into the country , but now things have gotten tougher. Those who were illegal and now became legal is either through either marriage or close family petition.

I’ve noticed in America that most 23-24 year old African ladies do not see marriage as a top priority. Instead, they prefer to have an accomplished career or attend graduate school before getting married. Most of them that I’ve talked with, prefer to get married in their late 20s or early 30s.

But the reverse is the case in Nigeria. Most girls between 21-23 can’t wait to get married. Career/professional development is second fiddle to them.

I wonder if culture has any role to play in the discrepancy between ladies attitudes to marriage in the U.S. and Nigeria.

There are other factors apart from culture . Women here tend to have more financial freedom, so they do not need to depend on a man for basic stuff. You find a lot of people here both men and women who are still single well into later ages. Some people also don’t believe in marriage.

Again we agree. Women over there expect a man to do what they can do for themselves if not, what do I need you for. They are ready to wait to be evenly yoked. I waited until my thirties to get married and got exactly what I was looking for. That is not to say there aren't gold diggers there too.

In my opinion, that's also why men there respect their women more kiss

The truth of the matter is that not everyone is going to get married or have kids. I have met some content people who are not married or do not have kids. I believe that Africans back home should stop pushing people to into marriage. Marriage and having kids is a personal choice and very important life decision that not should not be taken lightly. One should not go into it because that what everyone else is doing.

Reagan and Bush 1 both signed legislation giving about 8 million illegals legal residency. Today illegals either work under the table or they buy SSNs, either real number or fake. Chain immigration will it stop anytime soon, not sure.

Yeah very true. I think women in smaller cities or rural areas get married earlier though.

You’re right. It’s mostly women who grew up (or immigrated) to the big cities like LA, DC, Baltimore, Houston, Atlanta etc, who do not rush into marriage.

For instance, a 24-yr old entry-level female RN here in the US, can afford a two-week Dubai or Rome vacation. She wouldn’t need a man to help pay for it because she can afford it with her salary.

But a Nigeria-based nurse would have to work 5-6 years before even thinking of vacationing in South Africa. To afford that vacation, she would need to save no less than 50% of her salary, which is a difficult task.

Yes especially if she is single with no kids and not much student loan debt or general debt then the entry level rn could take the vacation.

Also getting a date in the big cities aren't that easy. The number of women largely outnumber the number of men so the dating scene favors the Male Folks more than the Female Folks.

Back when I was in New York City, I lost how many counts of beautiful women I see everyday. The competition is off the roof. We're talking of Legit Model Ladies with Good Paying Jobs.

For example a Beautiful Lady most will consider a Solid 9 let's say in Madison moves to New York City and automatically becomes a 6 because of the Hotness Factor of the Ladies in New York City.

That explains why most of the ladies date down below their level inorder to find a man OR alternatively they can always move away to another city where the competition isn't tough.

When I say Big Cities I mean places like New York City, Washington DC, Boston, Miami, Atlanta & Los Angeles.

These cities have a vibrant Entertainment, Nightlife and Modelling Scene as well as Good Jobs that pay very well and as a result tend to attract the cream de la cream of Beautiful ladies from all over the United States of America.

I have also noticed that some men nowadays wouldn't mind dating a foreigner.

New York City is packed with Asians Girls as well as Russian Girls. Those girls are definitely hot.

I'm currently dating a French Lady but I wouldn't miss an opportunity to date an Asian as well but they are always taken.

Even here in Miami, it's the Cuban Takeover. Mostly Spanish Speaking Ladies from South America including Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela & Columbia.

I used to think that American Girls are the Most Beautiful Girls in the World but I have been proven wrong.

That title definitely belongs to the Ladies from South America.

Exactly, If you need a Nigerian Lady OR African Lady to marry you can always find one in church.

Just find a Nigerian Dominated OR African Dominated Church close by where you live preferably either a Redemeed Christian Church of God {RCCG} OR Winners Chapel.

I used to attend RCCG and there were definitely a lot of Bachelorettes with Master Degrees plus good paying jobs who were willing & ready to settle down with the right man.

Apart from the church where else can you possibly meet a Nigerian Lady in the United States?

Maybe at an African Party OR Maybe in College.

I can't think of anywhere else.
