Well. Sorry about your brother. But the story didnt add up. They negleted you yet all they asked you provided which means they actually attended to him. There are a lot of gaps in your story. I would assume you are not a good story teller
All you could think of fromm this is the 'arithmetic' of the story. I hope you dont find your loved ones in that situation soon, you will understand his pains. SMH

What Bubu has spent abroad (about N500million) cannot adequately fund one teaching hospital for the year. (OAUTH budget a few years ago was N10billion).

Now, I want all our leaders to stay at home ad get treated....but the truth is, if we want good facilites....like they have in the UK or US ....we either pay heavy taxes, or hope oil goes above $140 PER BARREL...and increase hospital fees into the bargain.

Lord knows I was no PDP fan, and I am not an APC fan....but the reality is, Nigeria is not a rich country...which is why Bubu should have taken more measures to actively diversify our economy.
Oga shut your mouth. Buhari has spent more than that. You are an APC member and can fool others like you.
The parking fee he paid when he stayed in London for 6 months is more than a billion.

placard-carrying-quack Doctors all over that can't prescribe a mere drug for headache.

Don't blame baba for always going to UK to spend his holiday and then later stop over in his Doctors residence to pay homage

And one billion won't adequately fund LUTH for a year.

And why should I support a party that spends billions on a worthless fuel subsidy...and billions on grasscutting.

Sorry...I am not into your lord and saviuours Bubu and GEJ. Take your abuse elsewhere.

And sorry...you don't get my point too.

embarassed i sympathize with dis young man/his family. But come again,we Nigerians like to pass/trade blame.we wait till the last min b4 we start run up and down.Same way we do during BVN,Pvc etc.Had it been dey rush him to the hospital asap,we won't be reading sad news.Instead of doing the needful, some will be busy mixing Agbo herbal mixture with paracetamol (self help)/ignorance flying from one mouth to another.
u hear conversation like...
iya kabiru: E fi alum pelu iyo ati epo, oyin sinu omi gbigbona ki e fun mu.
mama Adaobi : make una blend bitter leaf, okro ,crayfish together give am
Mallam Yisa:Allah ni,Allah ni,walahi.
pastor jeromi: shaking ,clench fist/teeth ,rave up/down
,anoint u with oil and tell u to have faith/reject doc.(may God forgive me sha)
Alhaji: carry sand look left/rite.

till water don pass garri and phew!off we rush to hospital and heap coal of fire/blame on Doc.
May we not mourn/cry this Ember months IJN

Whenever I hear about LASUTH I curse them from inside, they are so stupid over there.. My younger brother died in that hospital last year after he was hit by a vehicle,he went into coma he couldn't see anybody still they didn't pity us.. We begged them for a while until they attended to us,we bought every drugs instantly, paid for scan, did brain test, spent over 150000 within two hours just to save him,i ran everywhere within LASUTH ikeja to make sure my brother survives.. They didn't give us a bedspace on time, they were just doing nonsense, no oxygen inside their ambulance to take him for brain scan in their nonsense laboratory..Everything was just nonsense until about 4 in the midnight when he wanted to breath his last, then they started running they were about eight but it was too late they couldn't save him..
All the drugs bought were given to a pharmacy in our area plus we didn't do a scan of 36k which I paid in advance that they would do for him when they have oxygen in their ambulance.. We just lost everything.
TBH government hospital are trash we made a mistake which we all regret, we could have taken him to a big recognized private hospital.
Next month makes it a year I lose him.

Nope....the issue is we need at least 2 trillion naira if not more to fund the health care sector properly.

We also need to increase taxes, ESPECIALLY since oil is not as high as we need it.

It is not a defence of Bubu...it is the sad cold fact.

The truth is....you want good health care, you have to pay for it. The UK spends billions of pounds on health care...far more than Nigeria's budget for the year. And much of that cash comes from high taxes.

I won't mind if we vote out APC...but the thing is....health care is very very expensive. Workers are poorly paid. And there isn't enough cash for facilities.
Our taxes our high enough as it is. We are at an effective tax rate of 19%. Developed countries start at 26%. The issue is that not everyone pays tax. Most in the the informal sector don't pay tax. Rich people avoid/evade tax. They should be taxed highest as happens in developed countries. They have taxes upwards of 45% while ours is at 25%.

Honestly, this is so touching. I have never been this touched in a while. Nigeria health care system and facility is in shamble at the moment. Many of these doctors have forgotten the Hippocratic oath they took before they became doctors. Saving lives should be their primary focus and all cases should be considered emergency to them. I can remember vividly when I was still in Nigeria. I was rushed to the hospital one day late in the night. On getting there, the nurse that we met was pregnant and was reluctant in attending to me. She later told me to come back the following day that the doctor at duty wasn't around. She told me to go and use paracetamol that I will be OK. I was almost crying. How can Nigerians be this heartless, "I said in my mind." That was the day I knew that our lives are not safe in the hands of Nigerian medical practitioners. I went home sad that day, facing the realities of life all alone. Nigerian hospitals couldn't save my life when I needed them most.

If what just happened had been in the Western world, the doctor on duty will be charge to court. A suit will be filed against him based on his own negligence. I've even seen in an Indian movie where a doctor was given 25 years imprisonment due to some petty negligence by the doctor. It was just a common surgery that was to be conducted on a minor. Due to negligence of the mother, the child ate an hour to the operation as opposed to the conventional rule of not eating 6 hours to any medical surgery. The doctor was later told by a ward nurse but because he was on call, he was carried away. They did the operation successfully but after few minutes, the food the child ate backed up to his throat and was turned into a poison. That was how they started running helter-skelter, trying to evacuate the food from his throat "something they should have done before commencing the surgery." The child later died and all effort by the doctor to bury the case in the court of law was proved abortive by his fellow doctors and the mother of the child. Though the mother caused everything. But the doctor was the one that served the jail time. If our judiciary sector is still functioning in Nigeria, the hospital should be charged to court ASAP while the family of the deceased should also hire a human right activist.
I've seen that movie "Ankur Aurora's Murder" or so... My dear, Nigerian Medical practitioners are murderers, if I narrate how I lost my kid bro due to same negligence I'll start crying all over again, this country is messed up beyond any immediate repair, Even God would be frustrated ruling the humans in this country, I know what I'm saying. There's little or no hope for the future of Nigeria as a country

We can only keep praying Nigeria and this ones its not easy as we think. I think if the facilities is there our medical doctors will perform and try their best though it painful and sad in situation like that. RIP to the dead.

I like your humility by asking what the Ignorance is?,May Almighty God increase you in knowledge.
Diagnosis is subjected to human and manchine error. They can misdiagnose any where in the whole world,Infact, more in private hospitals.Making diagnosis is not an easy task.60% of 7years of medical training borders around making right diagnosis.
Then, the same LUTH have saved many lives, but those people their lives were saved will not come to Nairaland to announce.I work in UCH.I have discharged more patient home healthier than I have lost!
Although I am very sorry for the OP lost and that of your close one.Its quite unfortunate.
