Re: ... by SocialJustice: 12:19pm On Sep 08, 2018 |
EMMAACHILE:Hello, still waiting for your reply. |
Re: ... by Nobody: 12:53pm On Sep 08, 2018 |
SocialJustice:Which reply? |
Re: ... by SocialJustice: 1:02pm On Sep 08, 2018 |
EMMAACHILE:I asked about planting Moringa. The profitability of the business. If to plant for leaves or seeds. |
Re: ... by Nobody: 1:07pm On Sep 08, 2018 |
SocialJustice:Go for seed production but the initial cost for dwarf seeds is expensive at minimum 1kg @$1000 or 0.5kg @$550 from India. 1kg seeds is about 3200 and covers about a 2 hectare farm Yield projection per hectare is about 5-10 tons seeds or above 3000 litres oil. |
Re: ... by SocialJustice: 1:37pm On Sep 08, 2018 |
EMMAACHILE:Thanks but you did not say anything about price of oil and the market for it. Also, how many plants will be in one acre? |
Re: ... by Nobody: 4:03pm On Sep 08, 2018 |
SocialJustice: 1660 plants per hectare and price of oil per litre fluctuate between 8,000-20,000 naira |

Is there market for the hybrid seed in Nigeria? I know most buyers source for the conventional/local seed |
Re: ... by SocialJustice: 4:46pm On Sep 08, 2018 |
EMMAACHILE:You mean at the low market rate of N8k, 1 hectare will produce 3000 litres worth N24m, 10 hectares=N240m? Is this yield per annum? Is there really a market for this? Thanks a lot. I will be in touch when I am about to start. |
Re: ... by Nobody: 7:33pm On Sep 08, 2018 |
SocialJustice:Yes of course. Your market will be cosmetic companies and mostly wholesalers from kano including the Chinese/Indians who buy in bulk |

Waawuu see pricing as in is moringa oil that effective? This person is selling one litre for 35k formerly 40k
|
Re: ... by Nobody: 10:15pm On Sep 08, 2018 |
Emmy1379: No as the developer said no one has purchased from Nigeria. I know of a 50 hectare farm of the product in Nicaragua. |
Re: ... by Nobody: 10:15pm On Sep 08, 2018 |
suyamasta:It's that expensive and effective too. The Moringa oil soap for example is super. I currently formulate one in my household using leaves and about to make a lotion from the oil. 1 Like |

EMMAACHILE: Are you already farming the hybrid seed?Do you have viable seed for planting for sale? |
Re: ... by Nobody: 3:52am On Sep 09, 2018 |
Emmy1379:No. I don't have a viable land where I will likely retire as it must be close to any were I will settle. |
Re: ... by suyamasta(m): 7:32am On Sep 09, 2018 |
EMMAACHILE:That's great but do you make for yourself or you sell the soap and lotion? |
Re: ... by Nobody: 7:48am On Sep 09, 2018 |
suyamasta:Its for my household and to see the efficacy of the leaves in medicated soap production 1 Like |

EMMAACHILE:Where in kano is the market for moringa seeds where Chinese and Indians buy in block? |
Re: ... by Nobody: 6:07am On Dec 05, 2018 |
es144000:I don't think there is a particular market. Most of them have agents scouting for the seeds. Eg a white woman who came all the way to Gombe to collect seeds about last year and I was even called if I had in bulk. I didn't really know how she got my number. |
Re: ... by es144000: 8:04am On Dec 05, 2018 |
EMMAACHILE:thanks,if I have a lot, will come to you if you have buyers |
Re: ... by pat077: 9:30pm On Dec 21, 2018 |
EMMAACHILE:if one wants to sell to this cosmetic company, must one first process the seed to oil or one can supply them the seed? |
Re: ... by Nobody: 10:21pm On Dec 21, 2018 |
pat077:Most will buy only seeds since they will not trust oil production from most sellers. Some people mix their oil with other cheaper essential oils |
Re: ... by SocialJustice: 10:29pm On Dec 21, 2018 |
EMMAACHILE:Selling oil is way more profitable. If an oil farm liases directly with cosmetic companies, I'm sure the companies will be happy to purchase oil instead of seeds. |
Re: ... by Nobody: 10:49pm On Dec 21, 2018 |
SocialJustice:If the seller proves clean and straightforward, the companies will definitely prefer the oil. The machine with a 1000kg of production cost about 500,000 from the local fabricating companies. The foreign machines can be very costly at much as 20 million for some. |
Re: ... by SocialJustice: 12:01am On Dec 22, 2018 |
EMMAACHILE:Wow, if the local machines can deliver same quality and volume of oil extraction as the foreign machines, I see no need to purchase foreign machines. |
