You can't compare a game dog/performance dog to a guard dog.

Are you saying that a pitbull can not be used as a guard dog? That's what people say but it is not true, pitbulls are very good for security, they will not just bark at an intruder, they will go that extra mile and mule an intruder.

Chief an APBT is not and has never been a guard dog. Using APBT as a guard dog is against the breed standard. APBT doesn't have human aggression but dog aggression.

Do you know why the americans say pitbulls don't make good guard dogs? Is because your regular guard dog will just stand there and be barking to inform you of an intruder but a pitbull will just attack without even thinking twice. That is the only reason why they say Pitbulls are not good guard dogs.

That a dog would bite me when provoked to do so doesn’t make it a guard dog sir.

I did not say you should provoke the dog, I said you should enter a compound that has pitbull and see how it will react.

You can expect to break into any compound with a dog and don't get attacked except its a puppy

APBT is a breed you need a first hand experience to actually be able to say anything about the breed. Google can only help you with 50% truth abt the breed...... won't argue this with you

I have a question for those that have Rotts, I'm thinking of getting one. The only problem is I don't want a dog with bad temperament and I have let to believe Rotts have bad temperaments and often violent. How true?

why would you break in into a person's house for crying out loud.

i can assure you if you go into a house that has an APBT with stable temperament(negative human aggression, positive animal aggression) the dog will wag its tail at you. if you want to bet lemme know.

just a piece of advice if you want a dog to guard your property and lives buy rott instead......if you have a pit and you think it got your security u are joking ni oo. Note this doesnt mean the dog cant lay its life for you and your family oo. APBT were never bred for security.

Pitts dont make good guard dogs cause they attack without prior warning. They also "lock" their jaws when they bite. The concept of jaw locking however, is a myth but still believe by many cos they usually won't want to let go when they bite unto something.. You know how hazardous that can be if it is locked on the flesh of a child?
A good guard dog should alert you of an intruder by barking, but Pitts will be watching the intruder, and let him be within reach before launching an attack

Is true, most of them are vicious in nature, unless if you overdocialise them.
I think you would prefer a GSD though. It has a stable temperment that is not too vicious.
