You only have to pick any random thread on nairaland to know that Nigerian youths are not only not ready but should not be trusted with power.

The winner of 1993 presidential election, Chief MKO Abiola's son, Abdulmumuni Abiola, has said the country is not ripe for a youth president.

Abiola told journalists at the maiden national youth summit organised by The Zealous Kwara Youths in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Saturday, that though he was hopeful that a youth could become president someday, it was imperative to give President Muhammadu Buhari a second chance, The Punch reports.

He said:

“I do believe that there shall be a time, just like in Canada and France, when we have somebody that is around 30 in power. I don’t just think that time is right. I think there is a reason why Buhari is there and I would want us to be patient to see him through.

We should give him another four years and he will handover power to the youth.

“I do not have anybody else to campaign for. Somebody after 20 years honoured my father and did what other people refused to do, so I am supporting Buhari for a second term.”

The President of the ZKY, Mr John Adegboyega, said it was necessary to sanitise Nigeria of corrupt practises.

Adegboyega added that 2019 was not yet time for a youth to become president.

He said the youth should participate actively in the political process and elect people who would deliver good governance and move the country forward.

It is not a problem to hand over to the youth... But where almost all youth of the country are into yahoo and we all see it as normal thing, we can never deliver a country like this to youths that will even do more worse than those adults there, what we need is change, either we have an adult or young in power.
You See this one. are you saying no Nigerian youth is doing a genuine business.
Re: Abdulmumuni Abiola: Nigeria Not Ripe For Youth President - MKO Abiola’s Son by deliveryboy:
Very true, most Nigerian youths are not prepared for 9-5 employment talk more of leadership, they have a horrible sense of entitlement and they feel the company was established for the purpose of paying them salaries. They don't have any meaningful skills and are not willing to develop themselves. Quick money is the order of the day. They are only good at giving epic replies on Twitter.

Dude, don't tell people online to shut up because you disagree with their opinion. It is a stupid and immature thing to do.

That been said, the guy you quoted is on point. If you think there's no 30+ youth that is all round smarter than Buhari then you're one of the problems we have in this country.
Please don't mind the dude, jawe.

I had to refrain myself from insulting him, honestly!

These same guys including Gowon, OBJ and PMB ruled Nigeria while in their thirties o!

And the cretin with his ears like trophy handle is supporting him, saying we are not ripe for young leaders that we had more than 35 years ago!

Hope he is not saying this because his late father was honoured. Let's always try to say the right thing devoid of any kind of sentiment. Nigerians are blessed, we cannot use a few youths who are making headlines for the wrong reasons to write off the genuine ones

Error of generalization. That's your opinion.

I can as well say, you shld visit villages, towns and communities randomly to see Nigeria elders are not ready to be trusted with power.

Shut up dude, where are the useless, entitled, empty heads you call youth. The ones we have tried as councillors, house reps, state reps, commissioners, head of parastatals, director generals, board chairs, etc etc etc. Did they not soil their hands with corruption, incompetence, inactiveNess, idealessness, stupidity, irresponsibility like many of the Old bastards we are tired of?

Buhari has my vote compared to all the youthful thieves you are talking about.

Abi no be this our useless black African people they come from?

It baffles me how people think themselves relevant in the polity just because their parent was once relevant.

P. S: political relevance is not a property that is transferable from father to son. I'm yet to understand why this one thinks his opinions matter simply because he is abiola's son.
