This is serious and quite troublesome. I don't know how the stakeholders will accomodate this sad news.
Do u mean stakeholders or shareholders, as for their shareholders their stocks in the exchange 'll be eroded if care is not taken just like what happened in 2011 when access bank acquired intercontinental bank.

What's killing Nigeria's bank lies in the bank. The management. They will want to enjoy perks at the detriment of people's fund and this habit is embedded in the system. The billion pumped in by cbn will be embezzled by management. They share monies as if they contribute to it. They rather make decision that enriches them the more. They are worse than buhari present day government. This will continue until a framework on management governance is drawn to cut excessive power used by the Mds and Ed's to siphon deposit and preparing a window dressed financial statement.

Most people add comment without a clear understanding of the write up, what the CBN said was that the bank has been revolked and taking over by Polarize bank, both assets and liabilities has been transfer to the new owners. It is just a mere transfer of ownership and nothing like lost of customers deposits/fund.

please let try have a better understanding before comments to avoid passing undeserved public misinformation.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has withdrawn the operating license of Skye Bank.

CBN Governor, Godwin Emefile announced the decision of Friday evening in Lagos.

Polaris Bank has been established to assume ownership of the assets and liabilities of Skye Bank.

The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation has injected N786bn in the new bank.

The management of the defunct bank was however retained for its good performance.

The defunct Skye Bank has been on CBN’s lifeline since July 2016 and the apex bank says it can no longer continue to intervene to keep the balance liquid.?

More Details Soon...

Well managed crisis. Let's see if they can actually pull thru, without a full-blown crisis

From this statement in the write up above,

The management of the defunct bank was however retained for its good performance.

Methinks it's just a change of name.

Yeye dey smell

You can bet the mallams are in charge over there.

Executive management that has vaporized N786 billion of tax payer's funds over two whole years of turn-around activities is being retained 'for good performance'. All because those funds ended up in the pockets of northerners.

It is well with Nigeria!

By the way, which portion of the Nigerian constitution gives Buhari and Emefiele the power to inject a tenth of national budget into a private corporation in such a patently fraudulent project as this, without legislative approval?

Na you nor read well o, not be me... Lol.
The statement says that the management of the bank was retained, meaning that almost all other staff are likely to be laid off. It's not every detail that needs to be spelt out in black and white now, that's the essence of comprehension.

This is probably not true. But if it turns out to be true, depositors' funds are very safe. No bank customer can lose funds again. The banking industry is very robust and has since passed that level. I have quite a few millions there, but I will still sleep soundly tonight. Panic at your own peril.

You see why it's not advisable to have one single bank account. Those who don't have any extra account right now will be begging friends to allow them transfer the funds into their own bank account grin grin grin grin

Good riddance.... The bank that stole friends 1.2m while all the evidences pointing to them that it was internal sipping. I opened one of their premium savings that promise good returns after certain deposit, they kept deducting the money heavily without apologies. Money that supposed yeild good investment. I never touch the money only for them to keep removing it in the name of one useless charges. I was frustrated to transfer the money to the minimum balance last year. Now the minimum balance is deducted from 2k to 1052 as at this morning within a year and they are sending me that my ATM will expire next month. I wonder how they will deduct it. Useless bank. When ayeni was donating heavily to Jonathan campaigns , gambling with people's money, we were telling them, now see the conditions where they have put the people's money. I just pity the staffs, that they won't lay many of them off especially the younger ones.

Pls I need more information. I thought the shares of shareholders from the defunct Intercontinental bank was automatically converted to access bank shares. I am still waiting for further information from access bank because I was affected and had a large unit of shares from the defunct bank and thinking that was the case.
