^^^ i agree with you, this area of Nnewi should be demolished, it can be mistaken for Ogbomosho or Ibadan. 4 Likes |

Looking at drone shots of Nnewi, it's obvious where their priorities lay; aesthetics, planned greenery and well swept streets are the last things on their agenda! It's all about 'ikpata that ego'! 4 Likes |

^^Nnewi was more or less a village like Ekwulobia but drew population from across Igbo land due to business. Old parts of Nnewi should be demolished, while new areas towards Ozubulu should be well mapped like they are doing now. 2 Likes |

bestview:truth is no city in Anambra is well strategically planned. except Onitsha city centre zik avenue, ph road etc and it's environs. others lack proper urban planning and arrangements. 3 Likes |

Nnewi as we see in the picture is the traditional unplanned town and very ugly. This old town can never be regenerated because the families will resist interference on their family land. Good road networks can however change the face of the old town. There is the need to create a New Nnewi Urban that will have regional bank headquarters and corporate headquarters of all companies in Nnewi on this new site, No trading but Only ultra modern shopping and business complexes should be allowed here. 2 Likes |

Ttipsy: You are very right about IMO STATE, there is no city or town in Imo state that is strategically planned very well like Onitsha, Enugu and Awka. I think Owerri particularly should be demolished to the ground because it is an eyesore of a town. Owerri lacks basic planning, no wonder the town is such a mess with bad roads and filth everywhere. Nnewi and Owerri is just the same thing. 4 Likes |

bestview:with your phone, use your google map, view Awka, some part of onitsha, Nnewi, etc and see for yourself. then search for Owerri, Aba, Umuahia, and Enugu, and see the difference. thanks |
Re: Update on developments in Anambra state-photos by bestview: 1:56pm On Sep 29, 2018 |
I am realist. Onitsha is the best planned city in the SE. Enugu, Awka, Umuahia are equally planned alongside Aba. But no part of Imo state is planned particularly Owerri and that is why it has the worst roads and housing arrangements in the SE. Use your phone and view the google earth and see what I am telling you about Imo state. Thank me later Ttipsy: |

Xander85: Nnewi, just like awka was never intended to be a city in the first place. It’s a village that rapidly urbanized. The advantage awka has over Nnewi is that it is the state capital. But if you study awka through google maps, you will see that it still has pockets of disorganized settlements and brown roof buildings. In China, where there are no land rights, the communists just kick out the villagers and knock down their old ugly buildings. Then sell the land to private developers but in Nigeria private or community ownership of land is recognized it’s becoming a very big obstacle to proper urban planning. The only solution is for state government to create a mechanism for purchasing private lands in urban areas and selling the land to investors for development. 2 Likes |
