We are saying the same thing. Areas like Coal camp, Asata, Ogui, Iva valley, Ngenevu, Obiagu etc, are worse than the picture, so if there is any where we should be hiding so that ofe people do not see it's those places I mentioned because they are the worst to showcase. Anyways I am sure you don't even know those places. nnamdijonathan: 1 Like |

Nnewi has better roads than your Enugu. Again Nnewi has more banks and far more economic activities than your backward and timid Enugu. Enugu is a worthless town. odogwu125: 1 Like |

ANSMEDIA:If reports I'm hearing that obiano is trying to betray this agreement and give the ticket to Bianca then it will really be a bad move. Obiano must respect this gentleman agreement or everything will go downhill from here. I have no affiliation with Ifeanyi Ubah, I still see him as money miss road but the APGA ticket for Anambra South is his! Anything else and there will be consequences. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NhjHn4SRR7g 1 Like |

horsepower101: There is nothing wrong with brown roof buildings because it reflects the state of development. 100 years ago there were thatched mud huts littering the landscape. The difference is that with infrastructure towns evolve. European towns have gone from thatched huts and dirt paths to paved or cobbled roads with street signs, lights, quaint duplexes and shops. The old part of Awka can be imagined along the same lines by paving most of it, making it pedestrian friendly by planting trees and organizing places like the markets. Zik Avenue needs to be focused on by walling off all markets from it and banning all parking along it. Eke Awka market should be downsized to a fresh produce market, walled around completely and be reconstructed as an open-air, concrete floored, roofed market with adequate parking. All wholesalers, vendors of other products should be relocated elsewhere. As for Nnewi, from the little I have seen of the place, what needs to happen there is to create an industrial zone where Nnewi industrialists can plug their factories into steady power, good roads, water supply, security. Because right now all their factories are scattered all over the place. The Nnewi people should also endeavour to come together and relocate and modernize Nkwo Nnewi. Make it look decent, put in facilities and parking. 3 Likes |

Obiano Tasks Southeast, Southsouth Governors On Effective Implementation Of World Bank Projects 29 SEPTEMBER 2018 WRITTEN BY KENECHUKWU OFOMAH Governor Willie Obiano has called on governors of the Southeast and South South to intensify efforts towards effectively implementation of the programs of the World Bank for the overall good of the people. Governor Obiano made the call during a dinner organized by the State Government for the World Bank Team and other participants at the Country Program Portfolio Review exercise held in Awka. The evening also provided the opportunity for the World Bank team to interact on a lighter mood, with Heads of line Ministries in the State where the Bank is intervening, on other issues which the review did not capture. The guests were also exposed to the hospitality and rich cultural heritage which Anambra State is known for, as the State Cultural troupe performed to their delight. Governor Obiano in his remarks, said it is rather appalling that the Bank has about four hundred and forty million US dollars undisbursed for the Southeast and SouthSouth due to the inability of some governments to meet the minimum requirements to draw the funds. He maintained that the State under his leadership was able to emerge as the best performing in implementation of World Bank programmes because of the strategies and coordination which his government has put in place and commended his team for the excellent performance. The governor said his government will take the discussions at the meeting to strengthen its capacity towards development of agencies partnerships. The World Bank Country Director for Nigeria, Mr Rachid Benmessoud observed that the two-day review activity reflected governments eagerness to engender a paradigm shift from the way things were done before and commended Governor Willie Obiano for providing quality leadership that has made partnership with the state, seamless. He also revealed that they had toured the various erosion sites in the State and seen the massive devastation wrecked by the disaster, promising that the World Bank will assist the State intervene in more erosion sites. The Minister of Finance, Hajiya Zainab Ahmed represented by Mrs Uzo Okoye said the Federal Ministry will avail the states every technical assistance required to achieve appreciable level of disbursement for the projects. The State Commissioner for Economic Planning, Budget and Development Partners, Mr Mark Okoye said participating states during the review exercise resolved to increase portfolio coordination to align World Bank programmes with the state's development plans, intensify peer learning strategies, increase stakeholders' ownership of the projects as well as to evolve strategies to sustain disbursements despite the inevitable change of governments. As is customary for hosts to fete their guests, Governor Obiano at the dinner, personally took the guests to the buffet where he served them. |
