In the diagram EF is a chord of the circle passing through E, C and F. CD bisects EF perpendicularly at D

a) If /EF/=12cm and /CD/=2cm, Calculate the length of the radius of the circle whose segment is shown

b)If O is the centre of the completed circle, calculate the area of sector OEC correct to 3s.f
__
^(pie)=3.142

A chord gotta be a straight line. Only an arc or the circumference of the full circle would pass through C from E to F.

I like ur Method; short, coincise, straight to d point..
But for the benefit of others and depending on the question, this method of mine below may come in handy..
Re: Mathematicians In The House. I Need Your Help On Mensuration by chimex38: 1:04pm On Oct 01, 2018
Correction. insert unit.
32.18cm² (2 d.p) or 32.2cm² (3s.f) or
32cm²
(since qtn parameters are in whole numbers)
Like I said, @rickyboss333, mine is longer.. but geometric theorems can come in handy when data parameters are scarce...
Also, Approximation varied our answers slightly in qtn 2. (36.87°≈ 37°)
All the same, urs is more efficient. smiley

yea ur right, very true. its been pretty long I did those mensuration stuff and I can't remember those theorems otherwise I would have used ur method. I just had 2 use common sense and go straight from first principles. am glad they both came up to be dsame answer. means my head is still game (lol) cheesy

I have another question pls

A doorway is made up of an arch, ABC, which is a quater of a circle of radius 2m, two uprights, CD and AE of height 3m, and a horizontal base

a) show that the perimeter of the doorway, in metres, is ^(pie)+6+2root2

b)find a similar expression for the area of the doorway in terms of root2 and pie, simplifying ur answer as far as possible.[if required, take sin45=Cos45=1/root2

A circular table top of radius 1m has an inner section of radius 75cm which is made of glass and an outer section of wood. If glass cost #2500 per m2(square), and wood cost #1500 per m2, what is the cost of the top of the table, correct to the nearest naira?

To be honest with u, at this stage am not sure if am doing u any good by solving these questions for u to simply copy. I guess they are assignments and assignments are meant to expose and challenge your understanding of the subject matter. I wish I was opportuned to have a one on one dealing with u, to explain and tutor u so that u could always help yourself and understand the subject better. I would advice u get a private tutor. please, i mean no offense
