Good day all! Please i need help My project (a block of 2 flats with concrete parapet and stone coated roofing tiles) was built with 5 inches blocks, didn't know of it until recently. I base abroad and the building was entrusted in the hands of a family member. What are the risks of building with 5 inches blocks? It's as if my world is crumbling I read somewhere that such structures are not solid. Please help me, advice me on what to do. I have spent all my savings erecting the structure. Thanks

No cause for alarm! Your site seems to be on a very firm ground. Supporting columns at edge, lintel chained round, concrete work looks good, parapet built well. For those who knows Ikorodu very well, there is an Estate called His Glory Estate along Laspotech road, we built 16 No's of twin 3 bedroom bungalow, a mighty bungalow indeed completely sold out now, it has been in use for about 12 years now and still waxing strong.

For those who will want to build with 6 inches block " this is only advisable for a bungalow on a very firm ground with extra care".

Your relative who handle this has done good job, kudos. My judgment base on the pix you posted.

cheers

Please house what is cost of P.O.P ceiling P/SM

The cost varies from city (region/state) to city. Generally, it should fall within the 1.5k - 2k per square meter (labour only), with you buying the materials

. Humnmm! 5 inches for concrete facia?. Isn't that risky considering the quality of our blocks?

Concrete fascia are supported by columns, as long as there are supporting columns, there is really no much to worry about, regardless of the size of blocks.

There's actually no column on that building apart from that which is at the ends (corners) of the building.
So invariably the concrete fascia is being held by the the roof beam cum fascia.

Your site engineer or plumber should be in the best position to tell you.

Normally, your toilet/bathroom, kitchen, will have chambers.
The next line of chambers are those where your piping, makes a turn at bends on your building, etc, etc.

U will need to engage a plumber to carry out physical observation to enable him determine d numbers u need, since it is only chambers. chamber is not expensive to construct.

12 inspection chambers for a 3bedroom?
Isn't that too much?
145/12 =12k per inspection chamber...i think it is too much.
Try another plumber

This thing is very simple
Soil pipe and waste pipe into the septic tank and suck away comes in 2 methods either SINGLE STACK OR DOUBLE STACK SYSTEM.

Your 3bedroom will have 4 toilets maximum, which mean each toilet will have ITS own chamber then the pipe will stretch to where your septic tanks is located which at least will have 3 chamber plus 2 or 3 angle of your building( this depends on how your building plan with the mechanical settings not every angles of building required chamber)
so in total you will have like 9or 10 chambers.

So what needs to be done at this point is to call your bricklayer to prepare the chamber NOT plumber and each chamber cant take more than 8 blocks means 8x10(80blocks ) you know how much is that ...then cement 2bags is enough ...then negotiate for the workmanship

This your quotation is for piping and construction of inspection chambers.
Guess you already have blocks and cement on site or you will procure that upon request.
You can bargain for the workmanship with the plumber.
The amount quoted for inspection chamber is okay for 12 chambers.
Re: General Topic Thread-To Discuss Anything And Everything in Building Construction by Nobody: 9:49am On Oct 02, 2018
The 144k isn’t for both the external piping and construction of inspection chambers oooo, it’s just for the construction of the inspection chambers, below the quotation you will see the grand total for both the external piping works and the construction chambers is 314,350, So boss are you saying 144k is ok for just the inspection chambers?

And no I don’t have blocks or cement on site yet.

Apologies. My bad.
Please forming inspection chambers should be about #2k/chamber inclusive of dressing and the slab/cover.
You'll provide the blocks/cement/sand/rods (slab cover).
A mason will handle the construction of chambers.
