2019: Aggrieved Ogun Residents threaten to withdraw support for Buhari

Some residents of Abeokuta North in Ogun state have threatened to withdraw their support for President Muhammadu Buhari and his party, All Progressives Congress (APC) during 2019 during should the party fail to give the State House of Assembly ticket to the constituency preferred candidate, Hon Taiwo Oludotun.

The Residents, who defied the rain to protest on Saturday at the secretariat of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Abeokuta, called on the leadership of the APC to wade into the situation in Abeokuta North or lose their loyalty during the 2019 elections.

It was learnt that the assembly ticket had been given to incumbent Commissioner for Education, Modupe Mujota, by the party in the state backed by Gov. Ibikunle Amosun.

The protesters, under the aegis of the Abeokuta Vanguard Forum, however said that Oludotun is a man of the people who will win even if the party wants him to go through direct form of primary.

Speaking on behalf of the protesters, Comrade Azeez Adeyemi, told newsmen that loyalists would had forced Oludotun out of the party to any other party but the aspirant decided to stay on in the party.

He said,”politics is beyond taking N500 or rice from anybody and if we must change this country for better, we must start from our different constituencies and this is our own constituency.

According to him, “Today, people under the umbrella of Abeokuta Vanguard are saying no to imposition, we can not allow a stranger to be forced on us in this constituency and that is why we are out here today to register our displeasure.

“Our man, Hon Oludotun is the people’s choice who will win any kind of primary either direct or delegate system because he has touched so many lives even without a political office.

”We are however using this medium to call on the President Muhammadu Buhari and National Chairman of the Party Com. Adams Oshiomhole to please come to our aid and prevail on governor Ibikunle Amosun.

“We can afford to force our man out of the party and follow him to wherever he wants to go but, he refused saying, that can resort to an act of disloyalty but if the party refused to prevail on the governor we would vote against the party both at the state and federal level.

“We would ensure that we vote against Mr President during the 2019 election if our appeal is neglected".

Mental illness is not only when you roam naked on the streets.
Only the mentally sick people will support a lifeless fool to keep ruining our country.
