A former Vice-president, Atiku Abubakar, who served during the Obasanjo era, has emerged the presidential candidate for the major opposition political party in Nigeria, People’s Democratic Party (PDP). He will contest for the office of the president against Muhammadu Buhari, who currently holds the position.

Nigerians have continually voiced out their frustrations against the Buhari administration, which ran for office based on integrity, a factor that has been lacking in the administration’s first term in office. Under same administration, Nigeria became the poverty capital of the world, displacing India, which has three times the former’s population, also, the government turns a blind eye to incessant killings, as well as promoting election rigging and violence, to name a few.

Now, Nigerians are desperate to oust Buhari from office before he completely destroys the country, as the people are now so divided along ethnic and religious lines, that there is hardly any tolerance left.

The question however is, will Atiku Abubakar perform any better? Of course, there is a vast difference between both men. Atiku owns and operates several businesses, all in Nigeria, he is an employer of labour, and he is highly successful and actually has a great manifesto and plan to get Nigeria out of the economic mess the Buhari administration subjected it to.
