A Kenyan woman has been arrested over allegations that she drugged her 35-year-old son for being jobless, which made the man sleep for 3 days before regaining consciousness.

According to reports, after the man had gone under the influence of the drugs, she then tied him down to a post in their house to prevent him from relating with other unemployed young people in their village of Eb’biba in Khusikulu Wemilabi, Vihiga County.

It was alleged the woman hired a doctor, who administered the sleep-inducing drug to her son.

According to Tuko.co.ke, the mother said she had become tired of her unemployed son’s habit of hanging out with villagers for baseless talks every day and returning home in the evening.

"He only wanders around the village with other people constituting nuisance. He is not even regarding himself as an educated graduate. He goes around the village with useless people talking useless things" she said

The son, a graduate from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, said he had no idea, his mother was going to do such a thing.

He said he only learnt of her actions when he regained consciousness after a three-day sleep. He was rescued by his friends.

Confirming the incident, Emuhaya/Luanda police officer, John Ndolo said they were investigating the matter and interrogating the woman.
