As Super Eagles of Nigeria faces Desert Kinights of Libya on Saturday @ Akwa Ibom Int'l stadium by 4pm, people have been dropping opinions on the match. Super Eagles will be missing some important faces like Victor Moses and Mikel Obi who will not be around to lend their experience to the task at hand, but Gernot Rohr possesses more than enough in the 23-man squad called up for the match to win in Uyo on Saturday and in Algeria on Wednesday.

Here is a fan's advice for Super Eagles.........


The advice to Rohr would be to play the 3-4-3 formation used in the second half against England just before the 2018 World Cup.

Goalkeeper: Francis Uzoho

Three Centre Backs: John Ogu, Leon Balogun, and William Troost-Ekong – Ekong should play in the centre with the latter the fastest and arguably the least efficient marker of the three.

Four Midfielders: Ola Aina, Wilfred Ndidi, Oghenekaro Etebo, Alex Iwobi. The two wingbacks will be Iwobi and Aina. Aina is better than Brian Idowu at this point.

I see a little of me in Ahmed Musa – winger, goal scorer, ‘ageing’ player and now team captain.

He does not look to me as such a consistent player, with a very strong enough personality and presence on the field, that can effectively combine the multiple roles. A player that is routinely substituted during matches is not good captain material.

So, I am watching and wishing him well as he takes on his new role as the anchor of a new generation of Super Eagles - Segun Odegbami
