I have always had the opinion that uneducated road side mechanics will usually mess up your vehicle.

1. They do trial and error.
2. They do not scan but rely on guesses.
3. They are very rough and inpatient.
This was my belief.

I also have the opinion of having one mechanic on your vehicle but my friends have always been of the opinion to have two especially when you are stranded and you need an urgent hand.

So, yesterday I had an issue. Couldn't get my vehicle started after going off. My mechanic na butty mechanic so has to rely on road side mechos to get it started so I could proceed to the workshop.

Road side mechanic came and dismantled underneath the steering. Removed plugs, removed back chair, removed fuse box, unhooked some wires and I began to sweat. I knew he wouldn't remember.

Fast forward, after several trial and errors, he guessed it was the fuel pump. Told him it could be the relay but the he said the relay is in a special place that can't be touched. Whew.

He asked for some cash to get the pump but upon his return, he came with a pump that was already fixed. Claimed its brand new. I became desperate.

While fixing the hooks and cables, he decided to ignore a clip saying it doesn't matter but I insisted. I don't want to be a victim of a distorted guage meter anymore. "Your wahala is too much oga" he snapped.

While connecting the cables I mentioned earlier, he fixed cable A for B but thank my starts, I was watching so I asked him to change it back. He claimed it was an oversight.

All the screws he has removed from the carburettor was ignored till I mentioned it to him.

At the end of the day, I was happy to get the vehicle started to at least go home for proper diagnosis.

My friends vehicle has been on the road for weeks now because of a mistake by a Kazeem that messed up with some wiring.

Please avoid a Kazeem today.

I read a lot about my car online and watch DIY videos on YouTube.



Recently the battery light came up on the dashboard. I went only and the likely culprits were a torn engine belt or a bad alternator.

I called my mechanic to check the engine belt and all came out clean.


I had to get a rewire to bring out the alternator. Got a replacement from my spare parts dealer and the rewire fixed it. After that I 'bled' the Radiator myself. My car is back on its feet.


Gone are the days when I entrust my car to the hands of 'trial and error' Kazeems.

Even if they fix something, they don't do it diligently.
What do you mean by bled your radiator? I think mine needs cleaning too.

While loosening the alternator, the radiator hose had to be pulled out to give room for space.


After completing the work, this hose was fixed back. 'Bleeding' like the Kazeems always say, is pulling in water + coolant in the radiator with the tiny cover opened up as well. the tiny opening overflows, it means the water+coolant has circulated. At this point, you replace the tiny cover first before the main radiator cover. dont forget to gauge the water+coolant at the required level in the radiator. if it exceeds the required level, your car may develop some issues.
