Don't breathe Rating 6.5/10 Don't breathe features 3 young criminals/looters who had after a series of successful looting escapades decided to make a go on a retired blind soldier who had a stash of cash locked away in his house (damages paid to him by the person that killed his daughter, which amounted to 300k dolls), the trio had hopes of traveling out of the country and never steal again should they be successful, but unfortunately only one of them made it out alive. Now, the movie was quite a thrill but then I felt they were not being entirely realistic, I mean, regardless of the fact that the old man was formerly in the army and had special skills doesn't change the fact that he was blind, like pitch black kinda blind. I find it ludicrous for a blind man to over power three human beings who are very skilled in the looting business, what stopped them from putting a bullet in his head from the onset, I mean didn't they want to succeed in the first place... Or maybe I should let that slide but when the man clearly became a threat and also killed one of their cohorts why didn't they also revolt violently instead they were busy running around the house in fear. #fear I think was the main reason why the two guys died, leaving only the girl, and I didn't really like the fact that only the girl(rocky) survived, I think Alex deserved to live, he was the only one that actually had a pessimistic feeling about the whole operation and urged them not to go on with it, so in the end one would have expected him to come out alive at least to fulfill all righteousness It's a good one nonetheless I need your views movie fanatics Mjbolt Beorn Koicereloaded Alexistaiwo |

TissuePaper: - First highlighted, there is nothing ludicrous about it. When your eyes goes, your other senses naturally heighten. - 2nd highlighted, they're not trained thieves. They are just three young opportunistic teenagers looking for a quick and easy payday, that's all. - 3rd highlighted, they're not killers. - 4th highlighted (also applies to first highlighted), the old blind guy was a veteran, and thus, is trained in hand to hand combat. Suffice to say, physically, he was in top shape. - 5th highlighted, if you witness a murder right in front of yours eyes, tell me, are you going to just stand there, or make a hasty retreat? TissuePaper: Nah. The movie took the realistic approach to life. It's not a matter of who deserves it more, rather, it's a matter of how resourceful you can be if/when life throws you a lemon. The dude had his chance to get away, but came back for the girl, and never made it out alive again. He blew it. Life threw him a lemon, but he didn't know what to do with it. Bottom line, it's a solid survival-themed horror movie. There are plot holes, but they're few and far between. Deserves more than the 6.5 you gave it. Should be 7.5. 3 Likes |

JeromeBlack: JeromeBlack:if the brain can force one to grasp for air when one is about to die, why can't the brain stop one from pulling the trigger when one is about to blow his brains out? |

KoiceReloaded:on the contrary, nobody is wrong and nobody is right. Since we're taking about reflex/non reflex action, voluntary action/non voluntary action. What they posted about the brain stopping one from suffocating when one holds his breath made it seem like it's non voluntary action. alexistaiwo:now the bolded looks like it's non voluntary. |

I don't know what primary school y'all attended but I was taught that voluntary actions are intentional and actions which are brought about by a defined thought process while non voluntary actions are ingrained actions which doesn't need the input of the CNS before taking place example breathing, blinking and the rest. So should you hold your breath underwater. Oxygen isn't soluble in water. It is not the water in the lungs that actually kills. It is asphyxiation. 1 Like |

KoiceReloaded: Koice has said it all. But I would like to add a little. The thieves are petty, they were expecting an easy operation, a piece of cake. They had no intention of killing anyone thats why they sedated the dog at the beginning. The old man knows his house like the back of his hand thats why he was even able to deal with them even in the dark. And lastly, the love of money also contributed to the death of those guys. 2 Likes |

BigBros147: I find it highly weird that despite all the explanation, you still haven't grasped what people are trying to explain to you. When you're trying to kill yourself by not breathing, the brain must force you at a point to breathe in order for oxygen to get to it. It's an action which the brain has control of. It's an involuntary action. It's like when you try to stop your eyelids from blinking, you'll notice that after a point you'll start tearing up but at the end of the day, you MUST blink. There's NOTHING YOU can do about it. Same applies in drowning. When you're holding your breathe in water, trying not to swallow water, when the brain detects insufficient oxygen in the brain, it FORCES you to frantically gasp for AIR in order to make up for the lost air, and when that happens, water flows into your lungs and larynx leading to asphyxiation which will eventually lead to your death (drowning). In both cases, the brain forced you to breathe in order to stay alive. The brain did its primary job, but in drowning, with oxygen not being soluble in water, one will die. But in one shooting himself to death, the person was breathing fine and took his life through the bullet, not through denying himself the flow of oxygen to his brain. Do you expect the brain to become titanium and magically appear between the bullet and the head to stop its impact? It's not the brain's job to do that. I don't see why you are not getting the simple theory. It's common sense, honestly. 6 Likes |
