Leader of Movement of The Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, has urged Igbos to disregard the threat by the leader of the Indigenous People’s of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, to boycott next year’s election.
Uwazuruike described the threat as untenable and unrealistic, saying that MASSOB had used this method in its agitation in the past, which yielded no result.
Speaking with newsmen in Owerri on Monday, Uwazuruike said that such threat was laughable because he does not have control of election in Nigeria, stressing that Kanu’s intention was only to incite his members into a exercise that could lead to the massacre of innocent people in the South-east as he had done before.
Uwazuruike said, “No election, no census, referendum and sit-at home were among MASSOB major agenda in 2004 which we latter dropped because we discovered that it cannot be realized and it will affect our people most.
“Nnamdi Kanu out of ignorance called for boycott of Anambra election last year and the election held, now that he is calling for another boycott how does he want to achieve that”, he added.
He said Kanu was recruited to destabilize activities of MASSOB, adding that why he resurfaced again was to use the IPOB’s platform to make money for his selfish gain.

“A lot of his members were killed last year and he left them and ran away, a real freedom fighter does not fear for death rather he donates his life for the struggle.
“He should be disregarded because all his activities from his arrest, to his release and finally his travel to Israel were stage-managed. So he is fake”, he said.

Uwazuruike was of the view that boycotting any election would put Ndigbo in a political disadvantage, adding that without the vote of South-East, a president can still emerge in Nigeria, arguing that it would be meaningless for the South-East to boycott 2019 election.
The MASSOB leader challenged Kanu to explain to Nigerians how he travelled to Israel despite the fact his international passport was seized by federal government.
