Railway

In his New Year Day broadcast to the nation, President Muhammadu Buhari, among other policy matters, outlined his plan for the development of the economy, the transportation sector, especially the railway network in Nigeria with a view to connecting the entire country.
Apart from displaying how cut off from political realities in Nigeria he was or still is, he exuded a certain poor grasp of priorities when he curiously said “negotiations are also advanced for the construction of other railway lines, firstly from Kano to Maradi in Niger Republic passing through Kazaure, Daura, Katsina, Jibia to Maradi.”

The questions that have been thrown up are: What is the rationale behind constructing a 55-kilometre rail line to Maradi, a city in Niger Republic? Has the Federal Government connected all cities and important towns in Nigeria to a railway network that serves the nation’s economy? Could this plan not be interpreted as part of the much-touted consolidation of a certain hegemonic tendency that is causing tension in the country? Of what economic benefit would the rail line be to Nigeria?

Yoruba SW, after 8 years of Presidency, and 4 years of Vice Presidency.

Occupying every office in the country from Senate President to Deputy leader Reps, Chief of Defense Staff etc

Fashola still have this to say, after Buhari failed to die for Osinbanjo to become President.

Vote For Buhari To Return Power To South-west In 2023 – Fashola by ManirBK: 4:32pm
The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, on Thursday, urged the people of South West to vote for President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 elections to guarantee a return of power to the region in 2023.

The minister stated this at a special Town Hall Meeting on infrastructure organised by the Ministry of Information and Culture and the National Orientation Agency.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed led three other ministers including Fashola, Ministers of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi and Water Resources, Suleiman Adamu to the town hall meeting.

Fashola said besides the massive investments by the Buhari administration on infrastructure across the country and in South-West in particular, the South west would benefit more politically by voting for Buhari.

The minister, who spoke in Yoruba language and with a proverb said: “Did you know that power is rotating to the South-West after the completion of Buhari’s tenure if you vote for him in 2019?

“Your child cannot surrender her waist for an edifying beads and you will use the bead to decorate another child’s waist.

“A vote for Buhari in 2019, means a return of power to the South West in 2023. I am sure you will vote wisely.”

EFCC Arrests Innoson Motors Chairman, Chukwuma

By Christopher Isiguzo in Enugu
Heavily armed operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday arrested the Chairman/Managing Director of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM), Chief Innocent Chukwuma in Enugu.
The operatives of the anti-graft agency as well as armed policemen had stormed the residence of the IVM owner located at Savage Crescent, GRA, Enugu as early as 7:30amTuesday to effect his arrest.
There was however an initial resistance by the security men at the residence as they refused the EFCC operatives entry resulting in the firing of teargas by the policemen accompanying the EFCC men.
They equally cordoned off all the exit routes from the residence creating gridlocks as most people who were involved in early morning activities experience delays.
The operatives later succeeded in gaining access to the building after overpowering Chukwuma’s security men as they eventually took him away.
Details later…

The 30% policy of buying IVM products by Nigeria government and her agencies by Jonathan Government was cancelled by Buhari. They had accused him of importing arms before just to crush him as they did to Ibeto, but to no avail.
GTB BANK is just a smokescreen, they want to kill him for refusing their order!

Buhari Shut Ibeto Cement, Halts Shipment Of Cement For Unknown Reason
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY.

the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mohammadu Buhari may have knowingly or unknowingly approved the decision by his kitchen cabinet to halt the shipment ofcement belonging to the Nnewi business mogul, Chief Cletus Ibeto, the Chief Executive Officer [CEO] of Ibeto Cement company. This is as247ureports.com gathered that of the entire importers of cement in the federation, only Ibeto cement was halted from reaching the shores of Nigeria. According to available information, an approval of yearly importation quota of 1.5million metric tons of cement was giving to Ibeto by the federal governmentof Nigeria. And as gathered, the company – Ibeto Cement had complied. However, with the arrival of the President Mohammadu Buhari led administration, the rules of the game changed midway.

The arrival inevitably struck the importation arrangement of Ibeto Cement with a bad fist. The policy makers of the Buhari kitchen cabinet quickly sought to halt the shipment of cement by Ibeto cement through means that appeared illegal or simply misuse of power. The President’s men took to the garnet when they got information that Ibeto Company had a shipment of cement on the high-seas making its way into the country. They immediately ordered the shipment be halted and not allowed entry into Nigerian ports.

As the managers of Ibeto Company inquired on the reasons for the refusal to allow the ship to dock, the kitchen cabinet of the President immediately searched the law books but could not give an immediate reasons or quote a law that supported its actions. The CEO of the cement company, after lobbying for weeks to find out why the President’s men stopped his shipment, was told that the source of the money which he [Ibeto] used to import the said cement was not sourced from the Central Bank of Nigeria [CBN] – and so the shipment will not be allowed to offload in Nigeria.

What Crime Did lbeto Commit?
His Crime is being an Igboman
What Crime Did lbeto Commit? His Crime is being an Igboman

When President Obasanjo encouraged local production of cement, the Manager of Ibeto cement factory promised to flood Nigerian market with cement and drastically reduce the price of the product.

Ibeto fulfilled his promise and flooded the country with cement. The result was that the price of cement crashed. This jolted Dangote cement and affected his business adversely.

Aliko Dangote wrote a petition to former President Olusegun Obasanio kicking against the authority the federal government Ibeto granted to import 800,000 metric tons of cement.

Fomer President Olusegun Obasanjo issued a directive that Ibeto was not allowed to import cement into the country until it proved its investment in local production. Dangote was allowed to import cement.

Thousands of staff of lbeto cement were rendered jobless.

When late President Umaru Yar’ Adua succeeded Obasanjo, Ibeto, in July 2007, applied for import allocation and it was granted. Once again, he flooded the country with quality cement, and the prices crashed.

Dangote Cement PLC quickly filed a suit alleging that Ibeto Cement Company is gaining undue advantage by the federal government.

On its part, the Federal Government, contended that Dangote Cement PLC is plotting to wipe out fair competition and create a monopoly in the industry and transform itself to the only cock that crows in Nigeria.

But Ibeto further filed terms of settlement, which were entered as consent judgment in the suit.

In line with the consent judgment, it will continue to import 1.5million metric tons of cement per annum for the period between 1 October, 2007 and 30 September, 2017.

This was in line with the Federal Government guarantee conveyed a letter by the Ministry of Trade and Industry dated 5 June 2002.

By the judgment, the Federal Government was to pay Ibeto Cement Company the sum of $40 million and N1,885,813,592(N1.9billion). The amount is the verified claims by the inter-ministerial committee of the federal government for losses suffered by Ibeto from the unjustified closure of its bagging plant between December, 2005 and when it resumed operations in October, 2007.

But Dangote Cement PLC consented that its rights and interests were affected by the consent judgment.

Dangote argued that the continuance of lbeto cement makes Dangote cement expensive.

However, the Federal Government and six of its agencies, which are the other defendants in their counter-affidavit deposed to by one Emmanuel Joel, an Assistant Litigation Officer in the law firm of Kenna Partners, argued that Dangote Cement PLC filed the suit with only one intention, to wipe out competition in cement business and become a monopoly.

The Federal Government also contended that Dangote cement has no locus in filing the suit as the matter didnt concern them. It aveered that the suit instituted by Ibeto Cement against the Federal Government was not fraudulent. Furthermore, it argued that Dangote Cement was not a nominee or agent of government agencies, which are defendants in the suit, and is not acting on their behalf. It argued that that Dangote Cement Plc is not an agency of Federal Government with the statutory mandate of administering, managing or enforcing tax compliance, therefore lacking the locus standi to commence or maintain the legal action and seek the reliefs in the case.

Ibeto took cement to another level. It signed a contract agreement of

$368million with a China company Zhejiang Sinoma Engineering Design & Research Institute Co., Ltd to produce 6,000metric tons of Cement in Enugu State, south east Nigeria.

The contract covered crushing limestone mining, cement raw materials to packaging, shipped to the whole process and a 45MW captive power plant, covering engineering design, equipment, steel and material supply, civil works, installation, commissioning and personnel training.

Already, Ibeto Company operates a similar facility in Port Harcourt, River State which produces 6000tons of cement.

Dangote was afraid that his dominance and monopoly of cement production will be destroyed by lbeto.

Ibeto is a billionaire and one of the wealthiest men in Africa. As at 2013, he was estimated to be worth about $3.7 billion dollars by Ventures Africa.

His Petrochemical Industries Limited which manufactures oil lubricants and other various petroleum products both for local and international trade has the largest liquid storage facility for petroleum products in Nigeria, with a large capacity to store over 60,000 metric tons, and is located at the Apapa Warf and the Ibru Jetty Complex in Lagos, Nigeria.

President Buhari came into power.

Ibeto Company applied for foreign exchange from the CBN but was denied. Dangote applied and was granted. He has continued to enjoy all manner of waiver.

Like Dangote did during the Obasanjo regime , he was said to have approached his Fulani brother. Buhari banned lbeto cement because they are afraid of competition from a south eastern lgbo man who comes from the wrong part of the country.

They know that lbeto has the ability to overthrow Dangote as the richest man in Africa and he must be stopped by all means.

Fllowing the closure of lbeto cement by Buhari, the prices of cement jumped from N1,500 to N 2,500 and Dangote is smiling to the bank.

Ibeto's account is frozen. Dr.Cletus lbeto has been arrested several times, questioned by security agencies, harassed, humiliated and intimidated.

There is no law in the Nigerian law books that Ibeto company has breached.

What then is his crime? Is it because he is lgbo?

ECONOMIC ATTACKS ON IGBO TRADE AND INVESTMENTS

Many people have been saying that Buhari means well with his economic policies including my humble self, however, haven discussed with many people and studying who are affected the most, I am convinced to say that whilst Buhari's economic policies affect all Nigerians, the group it affects the most in a disportionate manner are the Igbos. When you examine most of these policies you would think that Igbos are specifically being targeted on all fronts. Let us examine the facts one after the other.

1. According to Vanguard news today, it was stated that Buhari's government have moved Lagos clearing house for imports to Kano. We all know that almost half of Lagos are occupied by Igbos. Igbo business men around the country have their networks in Lagos, and all they have known for many years is clearing their goods in Lagos. Moving it to Kano only adds to their cost without a concomitant value. Does it affect all business men, including hausas? Yes of course, but we all know that at least 70% of imports in Nigeria are carried out by Igbo business men all over Nigeria. This is NOT a good policy in my opinion it creates bad blood for the average Igbo business man, and make life even tougher for them.

2. Two days ago the APC government of Ambode, who in my opinion has been a confused governor, unable to just keep up with what Fashola has done, ordered that Oshodi market be destroyed. This is one of the largest market places in Nigeria and West Africa. Is it a bad policy to destroy Oshodi market for developmental reasons? Absolutely not, depending on its intent. However, what is bad policy, is when you do not give any notice, no alternatives, and then destroy peoples business that took many years to build, throwing thousands off their employment, and making many more people jobless. This is barbaric to say the least. Which group of people dominate Oshodi market? Igbos ofcourse. By many accounts, Igbos make up 85 - 90% of the traders in Oshodi. Was it a way of telling the Igbos that they are not needed in Lagos? Who inspired Ambode to take such actions?

I won't go further than this, but one thing is clear, PMB would have to thread carefully, or else what he thinks he is trying to make better, would only make the country worse. We do not need another civil war, policies like this only make Nigeria more polarized and ungovernable.

FINANCIAL STRANGULATION AND FOREX FLIGHT FROM IGBO LAND UNDER BUHARI

The dollar policy has also disproportionately affected Igbos. Most Igbos have had to close business, because they cannot even find the dollar to pay for their imported goods. Worse still businessess that have millions of USD turn over, are prevented by the banks to collect their money, with the bank claiming they do not have dollar. This essentially grinds businesses and further makes the economy slip into oblivion. Does this policy affect other non-Igbo importers? Ofcourse yes, but given that Igbos are the engine of all of our imports in Nigeria, we can safely say that they are disproportionately affected.

Forex: Osinbajo visits Anambra producers ON NOVEMBER 23, 20162:33 PMIN NEWS14 COMMENTS Vice President Yemi Osinbajo will visit some selected companies in Anambra State on Nov. 24 to assess the challenges facing them. Gov. Willie Obiano made this known to newsmen in Awka on Wednesday. File: Osinbajo, Kachikwu Obiano said the visit was against the backdrop of the presentation he made to the Federal Government after he met with the Manufacturing Association of Nigeria, Anambra chapter, recently. He said the visit would enable the federal government provide sustainability package for 300 firms in the state in the areas of Forex and raw material sourcing to enable them stay afloat. According to the governor, Osinbajo would visit the major industrial hubs of the state including Onitsha, Nnewi and Awka. He said the need to help the manufacturing firms could not be farfetched as the sector alone employed no fewer than 800,000 workers. “Recently I had a meeting with manufacturers in Anambra where they made their challenges known to us and I tabled the problems in Abuja before the Federal Government and Central Bank. “On that basis, the Vice President will visit the state on Thursday (Nov. 24) and see things for himself; he will visit selected firms in Onitsha, Nnewi and Awka,’’ Obiano said.

Buhari’s islamization agenda is real, he is implementing it gradually – Igbo LeadersPublished on October 6, 2016 By Seun Opejobi

President Buhari
President Buhari

A group known as the Igbo Leaders of Thought has accused the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari of allowing Fulani herdsmen to kill Nigerians because of his alleged pursuit to islamise the country.

Making this remark yesterday at the Zodiac Hotel in Enugu, the Chairman of the Igbo Leaders of Thought, Prof Ben Nwabueze also dismissed the electoral reform committee set up by the President last week, saying “it has nothing to do with us.”

Speaking at the opening at the event, he stressed that the “Islamisation agenda of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration is real.”

Nwabueze added, “This is a very crucial meeting for us because we have not met for more than a year. And if you look at our agenda, such critical issues for discussion, issues like Islamisation agenda and its impact on the unity of the country.

“Islamisation agenda is real, it’s not something that somebody has just conjured up. It’s there. And it’s being implemented gradually.

“Look at the security agencies; every aspect of security , Muslims are in control in its entirety. They are doing it methodically; the way they are going about its implementation. Look at Fulani herdsmen menace, it is part of it.”

Nwabueze, while speaking on the agitation for Biafra, said, “The agitation for Biafra, you will appreciate what is going on, to box the Igbo, to box them so that they will say, ah we are pulling out.

“And then, they will launch the final solution to the Igbo problem. Our people must not play into their hands. All these agitations, I support the agitation, but define your objective.

“What do you want? Self-determination, okay; that is the best thing, use it as a cover, don’t come out openly and say you are agitating because you want the sovereign state of Biafra. Sovereign state of Biafra within sovereign Nigeria? You have to be extremely tactful.

“On the Islamisation thing, we have listed a number of positions which will be embodied in the communiqué that will come out eventually. The Fulani herdsmen, our governors should meet and say we don’t want this anymore, let them go somewhere, let them open ahhhh… whatever they call it (ranches). But not here, yes these are the things we want.”

Pro-Biafra group – the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, had before now claimed that the persistent Fulani herdsmen attack was a grand Northern agenda to forcefully Islamise Igboland and Christian minorities in the middle belt
