Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari (Femi Adesina) on media and publicity said it is impossible To Pay N30,000 As Minimum Wage for civil servants.

The Nigerian Labour Congress and the federal government has not been at rest over the demand for an increase in the minimum wage.

The proposed increase of the minimum wage from N18,000 to N24,000 by the federal government was rejected by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC)

While Femi Adesina was speaking in a live programme yesterday on Channels TV, he explained that it is impossible to fulfil Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) suggestion even if public office holders sacrifice their entire pay.

He continued by saying that it very difficult for some governors to pay N18,000 as a minimum wage, talkless of N30,000 the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) is suggesting which may cause a stalemate and it will not be good for the country. The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) should at least think about this situation before going into conclusion.

He also answers a question asked earlier by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) if the political class “especially members of the All Progressives Congress (APC)” APC agreeing to reduce their salaries can not make the new minimum wage demand fee possible, the presidential spokesman replied

“Even if they decide not to collect anything, it still doesn’t take care of N30,000 minimum wage.

U do realise d minimum wage was increased up to 18 by Jonathan in 2011? And jus afta 2015 wen ur hero PMB won, fuel went up to 143, a bag of rice is now 18k, kerosene now sells for 270 a litre ..

At 18k wage bill is 166bn a month

At 30k it is over 300bn a month... Over 3.6 trillion a year to pay less than 5% of Nigerians

How much is even our national income

If I'm president minimum wage would be put in such a way total wage bill can't be more than 20% of income

If you want increase minimum wage reduce your number

But it's very easy to pay politicians in millions! undecided

We need to work towards reducing NASS to one house with lower emoluments. It should also function as a part time assembly. Afterall they're on recess so often. Savings from that alone will be sufficient to pay thousands of workers 30,000 per month.

Honestly there is no point here .since 30k not affordable then everybody should start live on he / her own without government. I wonder where those politicians that going home with sum of 10m every month got the money from.there is a lot of abnormal we have to correct in this country before we could got it right.30k don't buy anything .
