People are talking as if El Clasico started with Ronaldo and Messi. Some of us have watched this game when the likes of Emilio Butragueno was Madrid's star striker and Hristo Stoickkov and Romario were doing the business for Barca.

Barca beat them 5-0 in the 93/94 season at Camp Nou, and Real Madrid retaliated with a 5-0 bashing in the 94/95 season where Ivan Zamorano ran riot the whole game. Great games we had then too.

El Clasico does not start and end with Ronaldo and Messi. We seem to forget the likes of Luis Figo, Luis Enrique, Patrick Kluivert, Bodo Zenden, the de Boer brothers, Marc Overmars, Rivaldo, Zidane and Ronaldo de Lima all played in these games.

This current Madrid need to be overhauled from the president down to the goalkeeper. They have achieved more than they can handle that was why Zidane left.
Imagine as small as Asensio is he has won 3 consecutive Champions league including a double where do you expect the hunger and passion to come from?

There's no way Madrid can be united as before when Ronaldo and Zidane were there...Ronaldo was a natural born leader who inspires teammates on.


This type of match cannot be tagged "El Classico" anymore because Madrid is living in its past glory...See the white washing given to them by Barca (5-1), it's totally unbelievable... The coach should be seriously queried...No more fire in them, like the good 'ol days of CR7.

I totally agree with everything you said. In the beginning of this season, they were firing from all cylinders hence there arrogance thinking they can do without Ronaldo when they failed to recruit new players at least to fill in the space left by Ronaldo even if the individual is not with same level as Ronaldo in terms of quality. Why can they stabilise the team instead of disgracing themselves.

Its a lie, they didn't beg him to stay, when he threw a hint after the champions league final, people said he wasn't leaving that he wanted to draw the attention away from bale to himself after the match winning goals from him, he needed an increase in pay because of tax which is normal for his quality as Messi's had already been increased, but Perez didn't want to take the risk of increasing his pay because he was 33 and they fear he would begin to fade, even the players thought Madrid would increase his pay but Perez was forming smart, he didn't want to gamble, so when Juve brought that offer, he felt it was a good time to let him go so they could pocket the funds.
