A 42-year-old website designer, Abiodun Amosun, has been arrested for allegedly raping his 16-year-old housemaid.

The suspect committed the crime on October 25, at the family’s house at the Government Reservation Area (GRA),Ibara, Abeokuta, Ogun State, while his wife was away in Lagos.
His arrest followed the complaint lodged at Ibara Police Division by the Benue State born victim who was accompanied to the station by a member of Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR).

The victim told the police that the suspect forcefully dragged her into his bedroom and raped her. She said when she started making noise after the man had his way; the suspect beat her up and sent her out of the house.
The Ogun police spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said a member of the CDHR saw her and took her to the police station to report after which the suspect was arrested.

“On interrogation, the suspect initially denied the allegation, but when confronted with the blood stained bedsheet in his bedroom, he admitted to the commission of the offence,” Oyeyemi stated.
“The victim who claimed to be a virgin before the incident, has been taken to General Hospital for medical attention and the medical report has confirmed that victim was actually sexually abused,” the police said.

I did not peg any age neither am I debunking the fact that 18 is good enough to BE CONSIDERED AN ADULT.

But looking at it from the realistic point of view, the biological maturity starts at puberty.

Go to the western countries and see girls of 10 to 14 and even a 30 year old guy will be scared to approach her cos she is fully developed and yes despite the 18years tagg, many of them give birth way below 14years and they have no complications so what does that tell us?

That is why any wicked attempt results in vaginal injuries. If a pregnancy occurs, the body suffers because it's not mature enough for that process. The birth canal is not even wide or fully formed enough to pass a baby through. VVF is real, read about it.

If you understand the process for handling juvenile delinquents, you'd know that they are not ordinarily subjected to open courts or convicted as criminals unless a capital offence like murder was committed by the teenager. Even then, there are special circumstances which must be considered.

Juvenile courts are special courts and records/proceedings are not open to the public so u really cannot aurhoriatively comment on the process.

That kids and teenagers have the appearance of full grown adults does not confer automatic maturity and adulthood on them! They are still intellectually immature and have not attained the age of responsibility. They are also not allowed to vote, participate in referendums or even live alone without responsible adult supervision. Should all these be dispensed with the moment she has her period and he develops beards or sperm?
