The Night Comes For Us

Little underwhelming. As someone who is a plot freak, I have to say the plot, characters and their motivations were utterly disappointing. Cinematography was on point though.

I dunno... it's probably my The Raid bias coming through, but the The Night Comes for Us fight scenes were kinda dilatory and clunky in comparison, except from one particular awesome fight scene that didn't even involve Iko Uwais.

Overall, It's an entertaining flick, anyhow. I got a little bored, but it's nothing, since weak plotted action-packed movies usually bore me.

A solid 6.5/10 from my POV.

The Night Comes for Us(2018)..10/10
Genre: Action, Thriller

NB: WATCHERS BEWARE, THIS MOVIE IS NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART.

Heads up, action, blood, guts, brains, chooped body parts, broken bones, slashed intestine, you think you've seen it all?? You havent until you have seen this movie. Its so fuc..king graphic I.e its a very very Brutal, gruesome, gritty, relentless action extravaganza. The cast performance were exceptionally brilliant, the choreography of the fight scenes were top notch, especially Iko Uwais scene. If you enjoyed The Raid redemption, then this is a must watch for you, and i promise you, you are gonna love this movie to bits, it's worth the time & the Mb. Koicereloaded, if you haven't seen this movie, i'll suggest you check it out.

Haha. Just finished watching it about 10 minutes ago. You overhyped it though. It's nowhere near the level of The Raid and it's sequel.

I disagree with you on that, if you consider the plot of this movie as disappointing then the Raid, Redemption to be precise shouldn't be left out, as its plot is cliché to the likes of the 2012 remake of the judge Dred( ignore the one man army) etc, so why expunge it from your criticism & what is so special about the Raid's plot that we haven't seen elsewhere?

one important fact I noticed about most action martial arts movies is that their plots & storyline are somewhat cliché & unoriginal, so how to I rate such movies?? I do so based on:

I) how exceptional the action/ fight scenes are.
ii) it's ability to hold me spellbound
/level of suspense
iii)How well the fight scenes are choreographed.
Iv) The plot ( not necessarily looking for an original idea, once it's average am good)
v) Graphic nature of the movie ( an added advantage though).
vi) its ability to resolve its climax @ the end.

In all this, the NIGHT COMES FOR US, did an amazing job of ticking each of those pointers listed above, hence my high ratings.

your assertion that this movie is no were near the level of the Raid is utterly laughable, as I consider it equals with the Raid. The Raid Redemption & Night Comes for us are birds of a feather plot wise( nothing special).

Lastly, I respect your views though & like I earlier stated, i would be glad if you can enlightening me more on why you think the Raid sequel has a superior/ unique plot.

I watched Next Gen. The cartoon is nice, the story is now ehh... Annoying, all these disjointed story lines that flow in tandem with reality. The fight scenes were good. But the angry teenage heroine (what's the spelling?) was way to stupid for my liking. Sha I hate movies and books about teenagers sha. And this one was among the most unreasonable, most annoying teenage anything I've watched.

The Hate U Give. 7/10

I love the source behind the coinage of the film's title. The storyline was good, the message it's passing, powerful. Starr and her dad delivered top-notch performance. However, I feel there were one or two over-dramatization in some scenes which weren't necessary or looked a bit childish.

My tear glands or emotional bag remained unshaken all through the movie, maybe because the story wasn't emotional enough to move me, or it might be that I'm desensitized to such stories; or better still, It might be because I've watched similar stories over and over that I saw nothing deep or different from similar storylines. Either way, I wasn't touched or emotional for a second. lipsrsealed Amandla Stenberg was fantastic, if not for her, I'll just score the movie 6/10

Regardless of the utterly ridiculous premise which I consider very funny & sometimes pointless scenes, I'll have to admit that this movie was extremely funny. Will Ferrell might not be as great as Jim Carrey, but he's one hell of a funny guy.

Yup. You're certainly one of those people that watch action flicks merely to be entertained without taking the time to mentally evaluate certain things that are important to the plot lines. You wouldn't have thought the plot lines of The Raid films are disappointing if you weren't.

Raid and Raid 2 kept the plot, and characterization pretty simple, and employed a classical approach - unity of place (building), time (24 hrs) and action - to make up for it's limitations, and lack of originality. Dredd did the same.

The Night Comes For Us on the other hand is all over the place, plot-wise. The plot revolves around an elite killer who for absolutely no reason, decided it's a great idea to betray the triads, and save a random chick while he's at it. It doesn't add up. The whole thing felt like an excuse for action scenes. The whole thing felt completely decentralized. There is no central guidance agency/vehicle/instrument. No unity of place and timeline. I hate it when I can't follow a timeline efficiently.

Then, the characterizations: what an ham-fest. Only 3 characters had any sort of spunk and left an impression (more or less). The rest were just thrown in there to create a gory-fest, and had no real impact to the story. The film ultimately shot itself in the nuts by introducing too many characters, and thus, half-assed the exposition as pertain/applicable to their incentives and objectives.

Then, the choreography. While it was pretty impressive when compared to run-of-the-mill fight scenes out there, it paled to the fluidity and impressiveness of The Raid movies. It felt... choreographed. Doesn't matter if it's several cats against one, it always end up been one-on-one encounters. which is made all the more absurb when you realize these guys are literally lining up to be slaughtered. Gimme a break.

So yeah, the action is good, but the movie doesn't articulate well enough for me to be satisfying.

Despite this being my 4th watch of it, despite knowing the ending, I can still watch and enjoy this film. Still get caught up in it, and get creeped the f**k out. Great movies are truly evergreen. 8/10

Incredibles 2 - 8/10

I loved the way elastigirl was the super hero focus. The storyline was good the only setback for me was jack jack. They gave him too much powers as a baby. Having over 17 powers and counting was just ridiculous

The spy who dumped me - 7.5/10

Honestly I was impressed with the mix of comedy and action in this movie. When I saw the poster I was like "arggh, looks like another low budget movie" but it turned out to be very interesting.

The nun - 7/10

Although this movie lacked the real horror movie experience, its twist and plots were great. Still a great movie to watch.

Slender man - 2/10.

This is by far the shitiest movie of the year. Everything about this movie is filled with shiit from beginning to end. From the storyline, to the dumbass girls to the annoying way the movie tries hard to make it look like horror with the annoying sounds. I won't recommend anyone to watch this piece of shiit.

Nice exposition by the way. No offense but it seems you weren't paying attention to the movie. Ito's reason for turning against the traid was simply because saving the little girl's life simply represented Ito's desire for redemption, if he can get her to safety out of the reach of the triads, not only would he have proved to himself that he had done something good, considering all those atrocities he had committed in the name of the six seas, it also means that he could stand up to the traids, who nobody dared stand against.

And secondly, that wasn't a random chick, it was a little girl. The emotions in the girls eyes spoke louder than words, the moment ito pointed the gun at her, that it appealed to Ito's inner conscience and at that moment he was able to think clearly and he asked himself, why massacre a whole village for the sins of a few.

Nevertheless, am not trying to make an excuse for its poor under developed plot, as your expository was on point.

I used the noun combinations of "random chick" for emphasis... which I realized now sounds a bit pervy to the ears. So to shed more right on this, a chick or chicklet is a slang for a little girl. Lot of folks assume it strictly refers to a woman, but they couldn't be more wrong. smiley

At the highlighted, c'mon now. The story is just weak and you know it, and even if you overlook the porosity, what about the "My blood brother and I grew apart and now we have to kill each other" trope? Where does it factor in?

Which is why I said earlier that the plot lines lacked a center, and were just stitched together to provide the excuse for the fancy fight scenes and the insane amount of blood and gore.

I am down with flu so I used procold which made me dizzy all through the night without actually falling asleep.

So I decided to re-watch ocean 8 and I discovered a lot of plot holes and loose ends.
Maybe it is the drug, let me outline some which revolved around the party maybe I might get some answers.

Debbie was said to be in the blind spot all through the period when Dalph was in the restroom, when Dalph came out and marked her face (when she later told them she never forget a face).
Debbie was definitely not in the blind spot, she was directly behind the security operatives.

The super smart insurance investigator who has Debbie as a prime suspect clearly saw her in the blind spot while reviewing the footage but for reasons unknown chose not to pursue the lead.

They said camera footage caught Debbie smiling at the camera all night while the heist was on, how the hell did she have the time to create a diversion while the other jewels were being rounded up.

Answers, anybody?
