2.4b billion US dollars is quite some money! If that is what they get annually then I don't know why most International HOTEL brands see Kenya as a first stop in the East and Central African market! The reason can be that we are more diversified in our ways. 70% of tourists in Tanzania are likely to be Safari lovers and mostly foreigners.In Kenya,the domestic Kenyans will support you even when the international tourists aren't knocking,we also host a lot of conferences (one of the best conference destination in Africa.Conference tourism earns us much just like Safari and beach tourism) and we are a hotbed of multinationals,so outsiders are in plenty here,Tanzania doesn't get to enjoy this much. Ambassadors in most EAC countries and critical UN agencies call Nairobi their home,this is a plus for us. It makes more sense for them to invest in Kenya,add the connectivity of Kenya to the world among many factors.If you look at things closely,you'll see that Kenya is the best place to put up your business as compared to Tanzania! You can add stuff like more skilled manpower,largest economy in the EAC and a liberalized economy that has strong frameworks and is less interfered by government and political forces!

We just seem to have a healthy mix of everything including external debt!

In short their tourism earning figures don't make sense. It's nigeria type of cooking. Last year we received I think 1.2M tourists - our earning as we computed was 1.2B dollars. Tanzania received 1.3M tourist - their earnings as they self-reported - 2.5B dollars.

You should know it just in the period of Alshabab and their wars that they caught Kenya - otherwise generally we use to receive twice the number of their visitors - and they use to claim they earn the same as us.

Tanzania has never ever received more tourists than Kenya this is despite having more natural attractions.
Last year according to Tanzania invest the numbers were 1,280,000
Kenya despite being a political year 1,463,000 visitors.
The interesting part is that kenya earned $ 1.2 billion
While Tanzania earned $ 2billion from lesser numbers.
Obviously there is someone cooking figures.

I hope Nigerians are seeing what 350B economy is really suppose to look like. They claim to have larger economy than South Africa - and yet Tanzania look even better than them.

Kenya has to grow it's economy 4 times to reach South Africa current level. And that is doable in a decade.
