They are learning some farming! Pastoralism gets them going but when the drought arrives,they are left with heavy losses.Farming should diversify their income a bit! I just hope they don't end depending on oil like Nigeria when we make our first cash on oil in 2019!

Our tea - Africa most successfully - is on the back of smallholder black africans. It Africa success story. You see in most countries including Zim & South Africa - conventional knowledge is that plantation large farms by whites are only way to farm - Kenya has proven by it's agriculture that small holder farmers can kick arse.

This is rural kenya - our economy is on the back of small holder farmers. Nigeria you have a long way to go. Majority of rural farmers have piped water & electricity. The problem we have is few people scattered in deserts of our norths - somalis, turkanas and such people.

I'm a tea farmer and I know how critical small holders are. As usual however Naijjans 'know' more than everyone!

As we speak now KTDA has more than 500,000 farmers and produces more than 70% of kenyan Tea. Kenya has slowly climbed it's way to become World LARGEST EXPORTER OF TEA and 3rd in production after China & India.

Farmers were able to build this skyscrapper in 90s -from tea windfall.

Are you trying to say that the more expensive the cost of living is in a country, then the more developed that country is?

Malaysia and many other countries doing far better than Kenya are cheaper than Kenya in terms of cost of living, so try something else.

Your country is more expensive because you guys do not have food (the bedrock of human existence), also, you guys do not have access to lands to build houses of your choice within a city.

For instance, with a monthly salary of $250, you can live a very decent and comfortable life in a good house and have access to abundance of food, health care, loans etc, in Northern Nigeria with even less that amount. This would be impossible in Kenya.

Kenya only has better infrastructure in place where only a few percentage of the population reside. Nigeria has her own infrastructures equally spread about the country in every nook and cranny and easily accessible to every citizen.

You can't beat that.
