It works just like factory unlocked but You want a factory unlocked phone i guess.

He nust be ready to pay heavy for factory unlocked. Even celebs [some] use ww unlock .

It depends though. He wouldn't have to pay much if it's not financed as financed network is rather too expensive to unlock. Hence, the need for ww unlock which makes more sense. These days no one seem to care about whether it locked on unlocked as long as it's free of icloud
