WE LOVE MALLS,they could have built one! People here love the experience of going to shop! In other words,going to the malls! A Kenyan would rather by a phone by having a lovely time at Garden City rather than logging into Jumia. They are posting big money losses.They won't survive.Their crazy discounts only makes it worse for them!

6 yrs of losses. What will change to make them profitable. I think Jumia won't survive long. OLX and others have come and gone. Africa not ready yet for e-commerce. There is no infrastructure to make it profitable. The hassle, the fraud and the all that.

If you factor per capita yes and the fact that Nigerian bank sector is forced consolidation (Igbo lady) then another yes - We have 45 banks. Let not talk about co-operative and micro-finance sector that dwarf Nigeria. Lets not even talk about mobile money - which now easily see 45B dollars (half our GDP) moved btw phones.

Our finance sector is just more sophisticated and even in scale - they are going to overtake Nigeria soon.

They still don't get it.The assets they have is just not commensurate to their GDP.Well, their GDP just doesn't give them much!

You fail basic maths. You're 4 times larger than us. Your pop now 190M (2017) and Kenya pop(49.7m); that works out to 3.9% or round off to 4 times. There is no sector you've shown us except perhaps oil & nollywood that I would say you're 4 times bigger..it at best 2 times..at worse we are equal or even beat you.

Remove Oil and you have a massive slum country. Their total banking asset for 2016 was 87B dollars - and our 40 dollars - You can go sector to sector - and at best their economy is twice Kenya - and that is massive country. South Africa, Egypt and Algeria are on another level.

The per capita phenomena is something they don't want to understand. Mauritius has a much lower GDP than Zambia but the quality of life is much better there.Likewise Ghana offers much more quality of life than Nigeria! That's a fact!
