More members of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly have pledged their loyalty to the newly elected Speaker of the House, Hon Nse Ntuen following the recent change of leadership in the House.

The House had recently effected a change of leadership following an illegal attempt by the former Speaker, Hon Onofiok Luke to declare the seats of members of the House who had defected to the APC vacant.

Following the crisis security agencies had taken over the Assembly complex to avoid a breakdown of law and order but the New Speaker, Hon Nse Ntuen has received pledges of loyalty by members across party lines.

As at Wednesday about eight members of the House from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had reached out to Hon Ntuen to express their desire to work with the new leadership of the House to move the state forward.

While six members were said to have called the New Speaker, two others are said to have visited Hon Ntuen in his home in Uyo on Tuesday night to pledge their loyalty.

The members expressed their hope that the new leadership of the House would be a clear departure of the previous leadership of Hon Luke, whom they said behaved rascally and with youthful exuberance.

According to our sources, two of the lawmakers are from Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District while Uyo and Eket Senatorial Districts shared three each. There are indications that more members would join when the House resumes plenary.

A visit to the residence of the New Speaker, Hon Ntuen witnessed a beehive of activities as well wishers have trooped in to wish him well in his new position, expressing their support for him.

Hon Ntuen confirmed that he had the support of his colleagues and said he would try to carry everyone along and not run a divisive House. This is just as congratulatory messages have continue to pour in for Speaker Ntuen.

Meanwhile the new Speaker of the Akwa Ibom state House of Assembly, Hon. Nse Ntuen, has announced the appointments of aides.

A statement by the Speaker said the following appointments were made with immediate effect to ensure the smooth running of the office.

They are: Chief of Staff: Prof. Emmanuel Sabestian Akpan; Chief Press Secretary: Mr. Amanam Hillary Umo-Udofia; Chief of Protocol: Mr. Raphael Udoma; Special Assistant, Legislative Matters: Barr. Mfon Udeme; Special Assistant, Political Affairs: Hon. NsikakAbasi Johnson; Special Assistant, Media Affairs: Mr. Patrick Edeke; Special Assistant, Protocol: Comrade Unyime Essien; Special Assistant, Protocol: Mr. Idorenyin Abel; Protocol Assistant: Mr. Ubong Otung.

The Speaker said other appointments shall follow later.

exactly. court only sack one lawmaker but the speaker declared 5 seats vacant. now he has played himself to the hands of opposition because it was illlegal action taken too far
