Ceding of Kwara South PDP senatorial ticket to Ibolo, Senator Rafiu thanks Saraki, Gov. Ahmed

I wish to express my sincere appreciation to the national leader of our great party and Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki and Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed for granting the request of the leadership of Ibolo division of Kwara South that the senatorial ticket be retained in the axis.

Ultimately, this was done in the interest of fairness and equity, as both Ekiti and Igbomina divisions of Kwara South have both produced senators who served two terms in the Senate.

I also thank all the stakeholders within Kwara South and the State at large for their efforts and support. Likewise, I extend my profound appreciation to my constituents, party members and advocates for their support and confidence in me. I will always be grateful to you all.

The decision of Governor Ahmed to cede the senatorial ticket following the pleas by Ibolo elders is highly commendable and this has further affirmed his reputation as an advocate of fairness, equity and inclusion. This is indeed leadership by example.

I think it is also important I clarify that Governor Ahmed’s decision to relinquish the ticket has nothing to do with the November 17 by-election in Ekiti/Oke Ero/Isin/Irepodun Federal Constituency. The outcome of an election that was characterized by rigging, harassment and intimidation of voters could not have led the governor to withdraw from the senatorial race.

You will recall that last week, on the floor of the Senate, I raised concerns about the conduct of the poll and the use of security operatives by the Federal Government and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to intimidate voters as well as harass members of the PDP.

It was on this basis the Senate directed its Committee on Police and National Intelligence to investigate the matter. I have no doubt that the PDP would have won the election if it was conducted in a free, fair and credible manner.

Let me also use this opportunity to thank all the leaders of our party in my senatorial district and the state at large for demonstrating quality leadership and for their efforts in upholding the unity of the party. I hereby reiterate my unflinching loyalty and commitment to the entire structure of the party.

I also would like to thank the good people of Kwara State for their continued support and belief in our great party, PDP despite all the calumnious campaign launched against our leaders and the party by desperate politicians in the state.

I am confident that with the support of Kwarans, our party will triumph in the 2019 general elections.

Dr Rafiu Ibrahim PhD, FCIB,
Kwara South senator.

Seems saraki is extra jittery in his eventual failure,

Effectively Ahmed has been promised a ministerial post by saraki from kwara to take their incompetence into a national ministry.

How anybody except anything to come from a failed incompetent hegoat in atiku government amazes me

This is what I understand as a good leadership gesture. Here in Lagos, Whoever Tunubu's choice of a senator or governor is, must remain, regardless of the applicant's character (be it questionable or not). No wonder saraki had remained resilient and unshakable, even in the midst of foes. He's kind of wiser than them al. He knew the outgoing senator could lose because he's not as popular as the incumbent senator, he quickly did the needful and the people of the constituency were so happy. A good leader must be willing to shift grounds.Same applies to Amosun of Ogun state, Zamfara state Governor, Gov Okorocha, etc. When the people say they do not want a particular candidate, you don't impose it on them because they're the ones who would go out to vote on election day. I remember in 2015 when people of oshodi/Isolo said they did not want a particular APV candidate but Tinubu turned a deaf ear to their call for a change of candidate. When the election came, the voted overwhelmingly for Tony Nwulu, same with Amuwo/Odofin federal constituency. Tinubu imposed a candidate on Ondo people a few years ago but the voice of the majority prevailed. He first claimed he did not have a favoured candidate but after the incumbent governor won the primary, Tinubu kicked, calling for a rerun of the primary with legal threats. At the end of the day, Rotimi Akeredolu emerged winner of the primary and also won the guber seat. Election is a few months from here. Lagos and other states in the country here godfathers are adamant or rigid in their choice of political candidates, should brace up for more drama next year.

You just wrote rubbish.

How dare you compare Tinubu and Saraki? You must be high on something.

For your Information I am from Kwara South. The last bye election is putting Saraki on seriously fire and he is feeling the heat.
His downfall did not start today, it started last year November when they conducted LG election. The kind of opposition that stood against him in Ilorin were massive. Did you know that some ward do not have Councillor in Ilorin because it was won by opposition.

Don't deceive yourself online, Saraki game is up already. Everyone now has the moral to come out to vote against any of his candidate.
Rafiu is popular and he is from my LG, but He can not stand Lola Ashiru as of today. Saraki do not have any backing to rig election any more. People are now more inform.

Let me tell you that there was no primary election between Rafiu and Fatai, He imposed Fatai on Kwara South. All these useless story he is now forming were raised during primaries that Rafiu should do 8yrs and he refused saying that Rafiu was in House of Rep. for 4yrs and Senate for another 4yrs making him to complete 8yrs at National level, that Fatai should take his turn, now that it's so obvious that his dynasty can not safe any candidate he is now looking for a popular candidate to use

Rubbish you called it? Ok. My mum is from Ekiti-kwara. Whether saraki's game is up or not, we shall know next year. We thought Taiwo Belgore would defeat saraki years ago despite all the monies spent by tinubu and his cronies...what happened eventually? All these social media rants won't help matters. It's always better to be objective and realistic than raining abusive words. I was an undergraduate when the late Gov Lawal tried to unseat the saraki's empire but he failed. We thought he would help hand over the state to Yorubas who were the rightful owners of Ilorin unfortunately, he did not do more than one term after which he was unseated by Saraki's dad. We protested from Sabo-oke to Gaa Akanbi but nothing happened. The family still held sway. I learnt there was another huge protest earlier this year from Post office to taiwo isale. Whoever God has placed in a leadership position, no human can unseat the person. We will just keep shouting

I think you got it all wrong. The very reason for this unfortunate change was due to the unexpected outcome of the just concluded by-election. Senator Rafiu came from Ojoku, part of Ibolo and did some empowerment and some nice stuff too but as a compensation for Gov fatai(good errand boy to leader and some intrinsic factors), senatorial ticket was given to Fatai but disgracefully taken back from him due to outcome of the by election. saraki is a goner baba

I understand all your points, but you shows that you are still leaving in the past.

If you conversant with current situation of electoral processes you would understand my points.

You can't compare those days electoral process to now a days. Even Saraki is feeling the heat and He is trying to change tactics.

The effect of the last Bye-Election is that it gives moral to the electorate that power has returned to them

I read your comment and smiled. Especially when I spotted where you said I was living in the past. So, what would you say to the wards elections ( the elections of the grassroots) which was swept by all saraki's loyalists in the state who have now defected to the pdp? Or are you also not aware of this ? If truly youre in touch with your people back home, you'd know better. It's in same administration this is happening and not in the past. Did you know why saraki was so hated by the apc...? I'd tell you why. It's not because he defected because he's not the only member who left the party. After the wards congress earlier this year, apc and lai mohamed were bittered because saraki's candidates won almost all the seats, including those held in lai's constituency. That's why they came to arrest those boys working for saraki because they're those who were mobilised to canvass votes and support to saraki's candidates in the state. Those arrested were framed up. They said they took part in offa robbery. I even saw a vehicle on which the police pasted the name of saraki on the number plate portion and claimed they met the vehicle in the same location where one of the guys were arrested. Our police won't stop amusing us in Nigeria with their lies. Now, they said the prime suspect had died in police custody hahahaha. They must wake him up because it won't end there. I watched those in the video footage of the robbery and matched with face and physique of those arrested, none of them could match up....Did you see the video too? See, I don't care if saraki loses relevance or not. My point is, he's smarter than what we think. Who in that state could be trusted...? It is lai mohamed? Saraki still holds sway.
