CROSS  River State has insisted that there are large deposits of oil in its soil and should, therefore, be listed as one of the oil-producing states in Nigeria.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Gas Resources, Mr. Maurice Ekong, who made this known yesterday in Calabar, while addressing the technical session of the  3rd National Council on Hydrocarbon, said research has proven that there are large quantities of oil in the state.

His words: “A team of professors and doctors have carried out exploration  in various parts of the state and established that oil deposits exist in parts of the state that meet the international standard.

“Fossil burial sites which over time have undergone changes in the earth to become oil are found in the states surrounding Cross River which is evident in the atmospheric conditions and soil texture which makes it indisputable that the states also have oil deposits.”

Doesn't matter really until you start producing you dont get paid. Cross River will be same position as lagos in that regard.

But Lagos is already enjoying 13% derivation from oil produced in it's territory

.....On Federal Transfers, he said since Lagos joined the league of oil producing states, the government had received a total of N327 million revenue, comprising N197 million and N130 million received in 2017 and first quarter of 2018 respectively......

Im look on NBS stats for September Lagos I dont see getting 13%. I'll check previous months to see if I missed anything.

Maybe there was an issue. See that for may 2017 attached. It was N109m for Lagos from 13% derivation

You're right it has been recieving 13%. I checked all of 2018 its an inconsistent allocation. In 2018 Lagos received 13% direvation of March only. The rest of the months were zero. There must be an issue indeed.

Blue 3k2, when did C/R ceased to be an oil producing state? I knew there was a case of disputed oil wells with AKS years back which was resolved in favour of the later. I never knew CRS completely lost its oil producing state status.

I am shocked and sad at same time. I think also CRS lost some oil wells to AKS in the aftermath of boundary readjustment just as Rivers lost to Bayelsa..
