The Just concluded World's 1st Blue Economy Conference, co-hosted by Kenya, Canada, and Japan in Nairobi, Kenya.

As the pioneer, Kenya has committed to establish a blue economy bank.

Consequently, Victory Farms Ltd East Africa will construct a hatchery to produce 10,000 metric tonnes of fish, which will make it sub-Sahara Africa’s largest tilapia hatchery- next year.

Kenya will also upgrade the Kenya Maritime School and build an African Blue Economy innovation and research centre and train 5,000 graduate seafarers.

Makoko was kicked out the conference since it could not count as 'blue'. It will have its own Dark Economy Conference grin

Kenya's Uhuru Kenyatta received an A U award for hosting the world's very first Blue Economy Conference (which was Kenya's idea btw!). The world does what we Kenyans propose because we are respected globally!

Uhuru said: Kenya is proud to push a global agenda to ensure Africa benefits from the expansive and lucrative blue economy.

170 countries attended with a total of 18,000 delegates!

What has naija hosted as a global first? SA hosted the 1st WC in Africa. Kenya has hosted several major global 1sts. Dont be so useless naija.

Now that it has been proven Nigeria smashed Kenya times 5 in the Service sector of the economy, let me do the breakdown and calculate the amount it contributed to each countries GDP in 2017. grin

.... Sector............Nigeria...............Kenya.... Year(2017)

1. Telecommunications $8.5b.................$2.2b..

2. Financial services.

A (i) Banking industry assets $101b..... $39b

ii. Banking industry revenue ..$10b...........$1.2b

B (i) Insurance industry assets.$2.6b..............$5.7b

(ii) insurance industry (revenue). $1.6b....$2.2b

3. Retail sales $109b...........$28b

(ii) FMCG............$4.8b................$800m

4. E&M(+filmed) .... ........$11b.............$2b

5. Hospitality/Tourism.....$2.6b...........$926m

7. Professional services

(I) Accounting................$17b......... ?

8. Gambling.........$5.2b ...........$1.8b

Let me go straight to the point.

Of the $79.22b GDP of Kenya in 2017, the service sector contributed 45.38% while that of Nigeria was 55.8%.

Meaning, Kenya's service sector contributed $35.9b. However, since the revenue Nigeria's service sector generates is times 5 of Kenya's service sector, we will multiple it with the sum Kenya's service sector contributed to the GDP. grin

That is about $179.5b.

This was the first TEDx show to be held in a refugee camp globally, in June 2018 at Kakuma Refugee Camp, Northern Kenya.

Among the speakers was Halima Aden, a famous Somali 'refugee' model born in the Kenyan camp. She was the World's first model to wear a hijab on the cover of Vogue. She was also the first Somali Student senator at St. Cloud State University.

Another popular Somali camp refugee from Kenya is the recently elected US Congresswoman Ilhan Omar.

Kakuma Refugee Camp was set up in 1992 initially to take in Sudanese refugees but now hosts at least 185,000 refugees from 13 nationalities!

So as you can see folks, Kenya is that awesome country

So this is a confirmation that there's power outage in Kenya. Thanks for the vital information. Next! grin

In Kenya they're mostly found in villages that aren't yet connected to the national grid as a preferred choice together with solar energy for provisions of sufficient energy needs especially in outdoor functions like burials, weddings & community based meetings within the city or towns you'd normally find one in hospitals, hotels & some other places but it isn't widespread since blackouts aren't really expected but when they do occur, mainly due to maintenance, it doesn't hurt to have some backup, no country in this reality has no use for generators but very few are dependent on it as a primary source of power.

Trying to square circles huh? I mean since you discovered you needed to be 4 times larger than kenya and at least 5 times larger to be better - you're now desperately trying to force figures. This is hilarious. But don't give up - Yemi Kale is looking for creative genius like you so he can continue lying to Nigeria that they are Africa biggest economy - when everyone knows that is BS.

The reality is you service sector is at best twice as large as kenya. You economy should be around 180-200B now (it used to be 150B before Yemi Kale famously rebased it to the moon) - way lower than Algeria - leave alone Egypt & South Africa.

That is why you total state + federal budget is 40B dollars compared to kenya national & county budget of nearly 33-35B dollars. You can cook GDP - but you cannot cook the money that goes to gov coffers. The economy that is five times larger than Kenya should generate five times more revenues/taxes/jobs etc!

To complete this herculean task...I want you to also claim your total gov revenue is 35*5=170B taxes. Then go claim your job as Nigerian General Statistician. They need such terrific talents.

It is easy for them to say that we are 5 times more than Kenya from sector to sector. The thing should be,how much does their treasury collect from all those sectors? How much money is in Nigeria's piggy-bank at the end of each year? That should end the debate!

Their entire banking assets - meaning all deposits & loans - is not even 100B dollars - compared to 41B in kenya as of 2017. That should tell you their economy is puny unless their service sector is running on Naira stored under mattress. South Africa has 370B - just one Standard Bank alone has more assets than all Nigeria bank(140B)- First Rand(80), NEDBank(70). That is the kind of economy they are telling us they are already at grin grin

See what your fellow Kenyan has to say about your source. Kkkkkkkk grin

NairobiWalker:

CIA is an American outfit that collects data for America and no country has an obligation to update it's data with them. Using CIA as your source is just dumb. For correct credible data, use WHO, UN, World Bank, IMF, WHO or the respective statistical body of the said country.

Here's the correct data from world bank. 64 years. Stupid.

https://data.worldbank.org/country/Namibia

Anyway, even by CIA data, Namibia's life expectancy is still 64. I wonder where you're getting your figures.

Why don't you go through her posts and share your ideas instead of all these stupid empty threats? grin. Kenyan men are truly pathetic. The South African girl has bern on this thread for a long-time, ask taysermahiri and kikuyu1 who have interacted with her.
