The presidency has ordered immediate arms procurement of critical equipment for the armed forces in line with the Federal Government policy of purchasing such items from the original manufacturers on government-to- government basis.

The president also directed the enhancement of the welfare of troops, particularly those serving in operational areas within the country, Guardian reports.

Minister of Defence, Mansur Muhammad Dan-Ali who disclosed this yesterday during a meeting with the service chiefs at the he Ship House, Headquarters of Ministry of Defence, ordered the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, to relocate to the North East pending when the security situation improves.

He also directed the General Officer Commanding the 8 Division, Nigerian Army to relocate his tactical headquarters from Sokoto to Gusau, Zamfara State to oversee the conduct of Operation Sharan Dahi.

The minister mandated the chief of defence staff and Buratai to effect changes in the operational commands of Operations Delta Safe in the Niger Delta, Lafiya Dole in the North East, Sharan Dahi in Zamfara and Katsina states and Awatse in the South West. Dan-Ali said the changes were to enable them meet up with the current threats and security challenges in their areas of responsibility.

The directives came as a pro-democracy organisation, Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) said the special forces of the army fighting in the ongoing counter insurgency in the northeast needed special weapons to fight the Boko Haram terrorists. To this end, the group urged the National Assembly to pass a legislative framework which will make funding of the defence sector as a first line charge to ensure efficient and effective roles by the military to stabilize national security.

HURIWA lamented that the $1billion said to have been taken from the escrow account was yet to drop at the Defence Ministry, wondering why the government could allow bureaucratic bottlenecks to slow down the process of releases and utilization of fund for the prosecution of the ongoing war against terrorists.

The group also canvassed the creation of what it calls ‘War budgets’ and the time line for national security objectives that must be achieved by a particular set of service chiefs, and a specified tenure so that other competent professional and combat-tested and trusted military generals are appointed to replace the serving military chiefs so the counter terror war does not become a commercially viable sector to be used by them for personal aggrandizement.

These were contained in a statement signed by the National Coordinator Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko and National Media Director Miss Zainab Yusuf.

So the precious lives of our military & civilians have to be wasted before the government become serious when it lies, propaganda & overt attempt to hoodwink Nigerians and hide reality woefully failed right?

Questions are;
-1).Which weapons have the military been fighting BH with since the inception of this failed & moribund govt if they have lied shamelessly that Jonathan govt.never bought arms?

-2).Why did the government approved this money but never see to the immediate disbursement by the CBN to the Ministry of Defense & onward to the service forces accordingly?

Or is this another case of Buhari not being aware of ongoings under his government as usual? Meanwhile, where was the said $1B been domicile before now? How much interest/impress have it generated and how is it being spent by the government.

-3).Why have the army high command repeatedly suppressed this obvious grevious complaints of soldiers over the dehumanizing conditions they have been forced to survive with in this BH counter-insurgency until the terrorist decided to completely take the offensive to our military.

-4).Why have the local press in Nigeria kept an annoying silience about the atrocities of the BH only for Nigerians to be innudiated about same by foreign media organizations thereby depicting a dangerous conspiracy not to "damage the reputation of the govt." even @ the expense of the lives of precious Nigerians being lost?

-5).Why have the Buhari govt, Nigerian Army and APC leadership continually lied shamelessly & annoyingly that BH have been defeated while this is a far cry from reality?

Even when a serving senator from Borno State stated the obvious truth but was denied by them all until now that the Shehu of Borno was also forced by the worsening reality of the killings to openly restated the same frightening truth?

When is the APC government gonna apologize for deliberately mis-informing Nigerians about the actual developments as regards this self-inflicted carnage from the core north?

Just like Buhari Lamented on CNN that during GEJ's tenure, "A group of individuals sat down over a table and shared the money meant for arms procurement"; that's exactly what will happen to this same fund.

But what does it matter? undecided
The Nigerian Army is sh*t anyway.

ANYONE YOU SEE ONLINE OR OFFLINE CANVASSING FOR BUHARI OR ATIKU, ASK THEM THE REASON WHY THEY'RE SUPPORTING HIM, YOU'LL SEE THAT IT IS NOT BASED ON ANY CREDIBLE AGENDA OR PLAN FOR NIGERIA AS A WHOLE. THEY'RE PAID PROPAGANDIST OR SIMPLY IGNORANT FOLKS. EDUCATE THEM !!!

PDP AND APC HAVE COLLECTIVELY RUINED NIGERIA FOR 20 YEARS. THEY'RE BASICALLY ONE HOUSE DIVIDED AGAINST ITSELF, THAT'S WHY TODAY SOMEONE CAN BE IN PDP AND TOMORROW JOIN APC. THEY'VE NO DISTINCT IDEOLOGY. THEIR COMMON IDEOLOGY IS TO RUIN NIGERIA FOR THE MASSES, WHILE THEIR KIDS GET QUALITY LIFE AND EDUCATION ABROAD.

IT'S TIME FOR NIGERIAN YOUTHS TO WAKE UP, SEIZE THE NEXT 4 YEARS OF OUR LIVES AND GIVE IT TO SOMEONE WHO HAS SOMETHING CREDIBLE TO OFFER. SOMEONE WHO'S NOT SHARING N5000 TO BUY YOUR NEXT 4 YEARS !!! SOMEONE WHO DIDN'T ENRICH HIMSELF WITH PUBLIC FUNDS.

THANK GOD THERE ARE CANDIDATE LIKE SOWORE, MOGHALU, DUROTOYE AND CO. DO YOUR RESEARCH, WHAT DOES EACH HAS TO OFFER AND DECIDE WHICH ONE OF THEM YOU'LL GIVE YOUR VOTE. SIMPLE. E NO HARD PASS THAT.

NIGERIA IS NOT EQUALS TO APC + PDP

If this useless govt knows the time consuming red tape politics process that is involved In sourcing weapons from OEM they could have made this order 3 years Ago....this is proof that Buhari Buhari hasnt ordered a single rifle since coming on-board yet kept commissioning Jonathan purchases as his own

D govt and d military recently displayed huge arms cache dey claim dey jus purchased recently.. A couple of weeks later BH strikes and many of our soldiers paid with their lives and d rest with parts of their body.. D same military reported its men were ill-equipped and dat BH were quite sophisticated.. D question now is what happened to those weapons dey display3d for Nigerians and d world to see? PMB told d Senate he wanted 1Billion to fight insurgency, biko where is dat money? Or is d insurgency he's talking about d fight against PDP, Saraki and Atiku?

safety of the people is needed everywhere. they should not give the insurgents opportunity to wipe out the innocent civilians. an immediate action should be taking by buying the modern weapons not outdated ones which should be reached to those concerned
