The candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Uche Ekwunife has described the upcoming Anambra Central Senatorial election as a must win for PDP.

Ekwunife said this during her familiarization tour of the seven local governments in Anambra Central. During the tour, Senator Ekwunife interfaced with party men, stakeholders and leaders across the seven local governments of the zone preaching unity, commitment and togetherness in the party as the party goes into the upcoming elections.

Senator Ekwunife described the PDP as a formidable brand, she noted that Anambra central cannot continue on its current path of representation.

In one of her visits, Ekwunife stated that she wants to be Senator for Anambra Central whose impact will be felt majorly in the zone. She noted that during her seven months stay in the Senate, she ensured that her representation was felt in the zone.

"Within one month of my stay in the Senate I dragged a powerful delegation of Senators to visit the state to see firsthand how bad erosion menace in the state is, we visited the Nkpor - New parts section of Enugu-Onitsha expressway which was almost cut off by erosion, and within a while after the committee visited, the road was put back in shape", she said.

Ekwunife noted that there is a difference between lawmaking and noisemaking.

"Experience counts, I know the workings of the National Assembly more than any of my opponents. Within the short period I stayed in the Senate, I sponsored five bills, my bill on the Reenactment of Forestry Institute of Nigeria to enhance the activities of the institute in their defence of our environment was recently signed into law. I also sponsored a bill seeking for local government financial and political autonomy", she said.

"Anambra Central cannot continue to miss out on representative dividends simply because its representative does not know his way around the National Assembly. A representation that does not create meaningful impact on the lives of constituents is not an effective representation", she said.

She urged the people of Anambra Central to compare and contrast what is obtainable today and what was obtainable when she represented them.

According to Ekwunife, while she was Chairman Senate committee on Petroleum Downstream, the current occupant of the Senate is deputy Chairman committee on labour and productivity. While she attracted road projects in Nri and Enugwu-Agidi, the current Senator is celebrating awards and Chieftaincy title.

She urged the people of Anambra Central to ensure that effective and people-orientated representation is brought back to the zone come 2019 by voting PDP.
