Op, even though I sit on the fence on the issue of tithing, your expression about it is so childish and rude. As a christian, there is a way you address issues and people no matter how hurt you are. Calling people fools is against the faith.

Besides, paying of tithe is an obligation in the O.T and if one decides to continue to uphold it for whatever reason, so be it provided he does so rightly and with good intentions. THE REASON WHY PEOPLE ALWAYS HAVE ISSUES WITH TITHE IS SIMPLE:

The tithing started with Melchizedek who is a picture of Jesus as the High Priest:

This means that the tithe is given to Him who lives. And the Church is Jesus’ body in this world; it is God’s temple. That is why offerings of money were placed “at the feet of the apostles”. The offerings of money were distributed by the leadership in the Church. This enlightens the purpose of tithing. The tithes shall bring “food into the house of God”. “Even so the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should live from the gospel.” (1.Cor 9.14).

This means that the tithe is given to Him who lives. And the Church is Jesus’ body in this world; it is God’s temple.

The tithe is for us today, just as it was for Abraham 430 years before the law. But do not mix it with the tithing under the law, where they were tithing to avoid being cursed. We are free and we tithe because we ARE blessed and we WANT to sow into His kingdom. As we sow the seed we have received from Him, we can trust that we will receive a blessed harvest which enables us to sow even more.

I have experiment the either way, PAY or NOT PAY and i can tell you the story. So tithing is not just an action of dropping its an experience. Today I know the Place I will drop my tithe and get Massive result. Something at the point of giving the Holy Spirit will witness the blessing God is preparing and it never fail to happen just I was told.

God does care wether it's Tithe or offering.

If you look at the way Jesus did things. He asked the blind man "what is it I should do for you". And the leper, other sick.

He also asked Peter. Do the children of the city pay tax?

I believe when we give, God wants to know what we are giving for. To honor the Tithing commandment or to give because you want a particular testimony or you are giving as an offering of appreciation or charity.

Which is better to be foolish to man or to be foolish to God?. We Christians are here to serve God's purpose first, and that purpose doesn't have to appear wise to any man. The wise things of God are foolishness unto men, so the Bible says. So I am not surprised it's foolishness to some people.

Also, tithing is not a command of man, but of God. That we have false prophets, pastors and 'men of God', does not make that command foolish.

On a serious note, I will rather pay my tithe with a clear conscience, rather than not pay because majority do not. If it turns out in the end not to be true, I loose nothing, because I did it in faith! Besides, it's my money. So who cares?. Eternity is too serious a business to leave it to chances.
