according to a 2nd century tradition, their names were ann and joachim, this is found in the aprocrypha book of james. both the catholic church, d eastern orthodox churches and the oriental church seem to agree with it.

However, when Joachim died, she married a man called Cleopas & they had a daughter named Mary too.

She is the same Mary of Cleopas that was quoted at the Crucifixion with Mary Magdalene & Mary the mother of Jesus.




Anne re-married again to another man called Salomas.

Legend has it they had another daughter - also named Mary (Mary Salome).
