Clear now that this fellow is desperate to become President. The very last thing Nigeria needs now is an additional State - no matter from which geopol Zone!

SE don't need another state, what is the usefulness....

Those with over 6state how has it benefit them.

Look at osun state, ekiti..... This states are created to fail.... Poverty is in another level there.....

Osun should be part of oyo no need making them separate entity

Let's focus on more pressing issue than adding more pressure to the already sinking nation called Nigeria

We are trying to reduce cost of governance, this one want to increase it.... Look at how OBI reduce cost of governance in Anambra..

If 80% of Nigeria governors can do that, we will start seeing improvement in this states, which is what we need no more state creation
I have maintained this point for long but some people just want to play politics with state creation.

State creation only leads to division . States who were formally one entity would now see themselves as different groups?

States creation has not added any visible development, as matter of fact, Michael Okpara achieved more overseeing the entire old Eastern region From Portharcourt , Owerri, Calabar, Enugu , ABA, Uyo than any present day Governor has done for his state.

Those who have seven and Six states in one region are struggling to compete with us with five.
1.With beat them in primary and secondary School enrollment
2. We beat them in WAEC ,NECO AND JAMB results
3. We still beat them for University enrollment
4. We beat them in good governance...all this while maintaining the least population figure and least Number of state

Nobody should come and divide us more in the name of state creation

This is the very opposite of his economic dream

A new state while the other states are barely solvent simply implies a waste of scarce resources to properly build the economy

Rather the number of states needs pruning down. I'm sure the civil servants in Abia alone is enough to run 3 Igbo states

The east does not deserve another state, it will only worsen the inbalance against the west.

Looking at the two southern regions at Independence, the Eastern region now has 9 states while the original Western region now have 8 states.

For the sake of equity, it will be highly unfair to make the Eastern region have 10 states by creating one more for them. While Western region remains at 8 states. To remove the current marginalisation, one more state should be created from the western region for sake of equity and balance.

I don't think so.

Hashim's economic plan is to create a 4trillion economy, not work with the current less than $500b.

So, having that in mind, his economic proposal will automatically solve many of the economic challenges

Olawepo-Hashim promises South-East additional state

The presidential candidate of the People’s Trust, Mr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, on Friday promised that within six months of assuming office, he would create a legislative framework for the creation of one more state for the South-East.

He said the step became necessary because only the South-East has five states out of the six geopolitical zones in the country, when others have at least six states.

According to a statement made available to journalists, Olawepo-Hashim made the promise during a visit to Enugu State ahead of the commencement of his nationwide campaign.

The presidential candidate promised the people of the region that he would introduce measures that would heal their wounds and make Nigeria truly united.

He said there was the need for equity in the country.

He said, “2019 elections will be unusual, in the sense that it is almost a referendum on the future of Nigeria, on its peace and stability, on its security, on its continuity and of course, most importantly, about the prosperity of Nigeria.

“The South-East zone is very crucial. The way we handle issues that affect us and are germane to the people would determine whether we will continue to live in unity and peace as an indivisible entity.

“And of course, there have been a lot of wounds in this part of Nigeria. People carry a lot of wounds. Just like a lot of communities in Nigeria and states also carry some kinds of wounds.

“But there is no other place in Nigeria where these wounds are so deep as we have in the South-East of Nigeria.”

The candidate said he was committed to uniting Nigeria and reconciling the people so that they could face the task of national development.

He noted that as long as people from any part of the country feel they were conquered people, so would the difficult task of nation building become more challenging.

Olawepo-Hashim said the purpose of his visit to the South-East was to tell the people that there is a presidential candidate committed to healing the wounds of the region.

He added that his administration would decentralise power in the country within six months by amending the exclusive and the concurrent legislative lists to ensure that states have greater roles in resource mobilisation and deployment.

Apart from the South-East, he said Nigeria needed security urgently now that out of the 19 northern states, only six currently enjoy some level of stability.

“One of the reasons why killings go on endlessly in Nigeria is the fact that nobody is brought to book when they commit murder.

“That is why some say the lives of Nigerians have become so cheap. Under our Presidency, the lives of all Nigerians will be equal,” he said.

Olawepo missed the goal by an inch! He should promise lefelendum within 60days of his Administration and see how Ibo react. He will beat even Atiku/Obi in their own home ground in SE.

It's more likely that I'll climb Mount Everest in 30 minutes than he'll achieve a $4 trillion economy in the record time he has proposed!
