.....Hey guys, I need answers to these questions pls. I left school about two years ago cos I was in a bad state that affected my performance and I ended up getting transferred from my faculty to another. I refused to move to another and had to drop out because of that. I am prepared and ready to go again but I would like to know if I can go back for the same course (mech. eng) and in the same school. I will soon enroll for jamb and I am asking to know if this is possible. Also, what is the cut-off to getting that course in U.I......thanks.

Things you dont know about JAMB and how to ace the exam with high scores

You might have been in your secondary school, probably in your senior classes and have heard about JAMB or UTME, and what comes to your mind is that they are exams you need to write to enter the university or anything like that.

The truth is that JAMB exams are qualifying exams written into tertiary institutions like universities, polytechnics, and college of education.JAMB means JOINT ADMISSIONS MATRICULATION BOARD, while the UTME means UNIFIED TERTIARY MATRICULATION EXAMINATION. Know that JAMB is the board while the exams you write is UTME. If after your secondary school, and you decide to further your education into that special university , or polytechnic, or college of education, you will need to write UTME and also write their screening exam of there is.

HOW IS THE UTME EXAM LIKE ?

The UTME exams consists of four subjects, in which English language is compulsory while the remaining 3 varies depending on your course of study. So for instance, an aspirant of Medicine at University of Nigeria, Nsukka will write English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

The duration of the exam is 120 minutes which is 2 hours, while the number of questions to be answered is 180. English language will have 60 questions while the other 3 subjects will have 40 questions each.

5 TIPS ON SCORING VERY HIGH IN 2019 UTME EXAMS

Now as a JAMB aspirant what mostly comes to your mind no matter your course of study is to get a very high score in the utme exams which will help you secure an admission into that dream course.

so some people do think that they do not really need to score high in the UTME exams, that as much as they pass the jamb cut off mark for that year, they are good to go, this notion is completely wrong. No matter your course of study, you will need to be at the edge of the competition because they are millions of people writing the same exams with you. Say for instance, you are aspiring for Medicine at the university of nigeria, nsukka , you will need a very high score to compete among the thousands of aspirants for the same course that year. And know that the number of people to be admitted for the course will be less than 500. so you see, the need for your very best at the UTME exams cannot be overemphasized.

I am here to give you 5 ways on how you can get a very high score in this 2019 UTME exams.Here are the 5 ways;

1. FOCUS ON YOUR AIM

One thing most people fail to realize is that you will need to be extra focused to reach your aim. Take a book and write the score you want to get, say, 325 , then break it down according to the four subjects. Focus gives you that extra edge you need to smash the exams. You will need to cut off the television, social media, game consoles or anything at all that distracts you. You will need extra focus. Determine in your mind that you are not just writing the utme exams to pass but you are writing it to ace with it with a minimum of your threshold score, say 320.

For you to get that your desired score, you will need to focus on the process, the preparation and what you will need to read.

2. DO THE WORK REQUIRED

Now you would have scribbled somewhere your desired score. For you to get that, you will need to do the work required. A very high score will need a very strong work load. lots of people that take the utme exams these days fail to acknowledge the importance of preparation before action. The only place where success comes before work is in the Dictionary. You need to do the work now.

Start wherever you are and commit to the working process. Commit to improving yourself and your knowledge everyday.

3. MAP OUT A STUDY PLAN

Mapping out a plan for your study is very essential as it makes your goals measurable. Commit to read for at least 5 hours a day if you want to reach your target. Set a timetable for yourself and follow it through. For example, you can choose to read a subject per day for 6 days in a week.

4 . CONSISTENCY

One thing that many people fail to know is that consistency is the ingredient to success. you need to choose whatever you want to do and be consistent in it if you ever want to see success. You need to do that thing over and over gain.

Read and commit to reading. Do not give up. Always commit to improving yourself everyday. Make sure you follow your plan consistently. know also that it can be hard but it is worth it. Always put behind in your mind the Newtons third law, which states that "for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction". It is same as the cause and effect theory, that is, for you to have that desired high score you will need to put in the work required.

5. EXAM ETHICS

There is one thing i always tell my students and that is "the reading process is one thing while you in the exam hall is another thing". This section if not obeyed is one of the reasons people who prepare hard and read hard don't ace their exams.

You will need to follow some ethics which i am about to give you now:

There is a new Free app in the Play Store which I have found to be very helpful for students like me. It is called perplex and it is an app that helps students remember information by flashing it at regular intervals. I think it is very useful, especially when memorising things like quiz questions or maybe points in a topic. Here is the app's description:

Flash Memorisation Technique (FMT) : A method of revision which is similar to flashcard usage. It involves showing bits of information repeatedly at regular intervals.Perplex helps you to remember information you read easily, faster and more efficiently. Using FMT, you can remember up to 75% more information. Humans remember information best when they come across it 4 - 7 times. Therefore, (I/we) have created Perplex, a software which allows you to input information or a key-point that you need to remember, and it will continue to flash information at regular intervals. Now you can prepare for your next exam up to 50% faster. Need to remember your bosses kids names? Have a bunch of passwords you need to remember? Need to study for that quiz next week? Simple! Just add your information and watch it as it flashes on the screen.

It also includes several relaxing backgrounds specially tailored to help you create a mental picture. People remember pictures better than words. So we have combined the two of them together to give you an experience you will remember. You remember better when listening to music, so why don't you open your music player, and listen to your favourite song to keep you entertained. The app is extremely lightweight so you have absolutely no need to worry about your phone space running.

Like I said, the app is free and it is downloadable on your android device.

Here is the app link:
