Few weeks to the 2019 general elections, the country’s leading opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday said it has no confidence in the ability and sincerity of the electoral umpire, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a credible, free and fair election. The party also said it has genuine information on why the controversial electoral commissioner, Aminat Zakari is been ‘imposed on the INEC chairman’ to perfect the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) rigging plot. The immediate past Govenor of Ekiti State, Mr Ayodele Fayose made the disclosures on Saturday in Ibadan while addressing the press at the opening of the Atiku/Obi 2019 Southwest Campaign Summit. onubijoe:In all of this brouhaha since her appointment, one thing just keeps playing in my head. Should the effort of someone who have worked tirelessly to climb through the ranks in her career be destroyed overnight just because she is somehow connected to the president? Can only one person rig an election carried out in 36 States of the nation where results are collated from those places? Was she in INEC when the president lost the election in 2011? How can all the years of hard work of someone be smashed out without consideration and thoughts about what if this was me? I asked all those because you said her appointment should be terminated, I don't care about politics in Nigeria because none of the candidates care about us but themselves. Now, I will ask you a personal question...Would you be happy if you were sacked from your job after 8 years of hard work and integrity where not even a soul can boast of influencing your decisions because of a cultural relationship between you and the finance officer of your company? Not even by blood o. Just be sincere with your answer because I feel for this woman who has no scandal to her name, not even one person can come out and say they have influenced her decisions one way or the other in the past but yet someone like you just wants her to he terminated on the basis that she's related to Buhari, when not even by blood. these guys are just creating an excuse for themselves... how on earth will the head of coalition center affect results from all 36 states nd the FCT? in 2015 I remember the only person aside the returning officers that even spoke in that coalition center was Jega, aside that, the results that they bring along with them are seen by both party agents at the center, to ensure that it's the same with what was declared in the states, before it's been announced by the returning officers themselves... If PDP knows how they think this woman can rig the election in Buhari's favour they should say it or otherwise remain calm and play the game... |
