Apple is reaching the point where the amount they charge for their phone has passed how much the consumer is willing to part with at a desired price point given his options in midst of fellow competitive brands. Apples plan of increasing pricing with a newer generation of product isn't sustainable and has maybe reached a climax and so they have no choice than to retain their current prices (which is already telling by reduced sales volume) or take a cut (as witnessed by price drop/promo discounts esp the iPhone XR.) Apple still strong headed to drop the price of the xs/xs max as it don't want to hurt the premium title associated with the devices. Their turnover is already affected in markets such as china and India, hence they are building a factory in India so as to reduce cost and be able to price competitively in the Indian market.
The way i see it, Only way to just justify a price increase or stay floating at their current price pattern is to innovate something substantial like the upcoming curved screen from Samsung; Huawei, and even Xiaomi has joined the party too, which might be the next thing in Mobile tech in a few years. Samsung has put a price of over $1800. Time Will tell if it'll be a success. Also, apple needs to give the full package and not charge for every piece of accessory that easily should've been included in the box from the onset (hint: 5w charger which is absurd)
Point being, Apple need to re-strategise. Nokia was ignorant and fell, but that shouldn't happen to Apple as they still got the funds and a strong following still. They are the highest influencer of the market as seen by their design and notch copied by others soon as Apple did theirs. But the world don't revolve around America and Apple should be wary of the might of the Chinese lest they fall.

Huawei shipped more phones than Samsung and Apple last year... And they aren't even allowed in the US market yet.. Now imagine the trade war Palava goes away and Huawei gets into the US market fully..

Most of the people complaining here probably don't even use their iphones for more than text, call and pics.

Apple ecosystem is not going anywhere anytime soon, so if it is not for you go and buy tecno and infinity you're their target audience.
