Movies critics like but audiences hate:

Black panther.

Some people here said that critics like this movie because they didn't want to be labeled racists... but assuming critics hated it, i am sure there would have been an uproar from blacks citing racism as the reason why critics hated such a black culture superhero movie.

Yes there will always be people who play racist card.

In fact when it comes to playing racist card, I think blacks are more notorious than whites.

But let's tell ourselves the truth.

Did Black Panther live up to the hype ?...NO.
Is Black Panther deserving of the over-praise it got from critics...NO.
Is Black Panther such a great movie?... Not even close.

Black Panther is an AVERAGE to OKAY movie.

It doesn't deserve the over-the-top praise critics bestowed on it.
And yes critics did that deliberately just to avoid being labeled RACIST.
Same way they over-praised Wonder Woman just to avoid the wrath of feminist.

But at the end of the day...i wouldn't blame critics.
I have no problem with them.

I will blame the advocates of political correctness.
I will blame the SJW's.
I will blame the racist card players.

They are the reason why critics did what they did.

Movies like Black Panther are used to pander to the blacks SJWs.

I was not surprised when BP was nominated for best drama at the golden globes.
Can you imagine....best drama nomination... What the actual fuçk undecided
BP didn't deserve that nomination one bit.
It got that nomination for one reason-----Predominantly Black cast in the movie.
SJW's and Political correctness minions have become so sentimentally attached BP so gotta give it that golden globe nomination.
I'm happy it lost the award to Bohemian Rhapsody.

To conclude my rant.. I would like to ask a question.

How long are we going to pander to the SJW's.
How long are we going to form political correctness.
How long are we going to give a movie undeserved praise because we don't want want to tagged racist.

Now to the SJWs and political correct minions.
Where were you when Blade was released

In conclusion we should not give a movie undeserved praise and worship.
Heck.. A masterpiece like TDK didn't get the kind of praise BP got.
Even Infinity War was not hyped like this by critics.

We cannot continue this way.
Middle fingers to those who enjoy playing racist card.

A movie should get praise and worship and recognition not because of the predominantly black cast but because of the plot, acting, cinematography, suspense etc.
These elements, if done right, makes a movie great.

These elements in the right proportion makes a movie deserving high praise, golden globe and Oscars nomination.

*drops mic*

And for those people who think there is no such thing as racist card.

See evidence...

BP failed to win golden globe and people came out to play racist card.

This is why I don't blame critics.

SJWs and political correct minions are a cancer to American society.

Where was this outrage when "The Shape of Water" won awards? A film that could be simply summarized as "A dumb sluut fcked a fish".

Negro, go and sit down.

Only a biased person would argue against a movie that made 1.344 billion dollars and was lauded by critics.

If you do not understand how people were moved by the black panther movie, please park well.

Only a biased Negro would imply that a movie deserves so much praise, golden globe and Oscars just because of predominantly black cast.

Not because of acting, directing, story etc.

But because it had predominantly black cast.

Yes that's fine.

This is how movies should be treated from now on. undecided

You really need to remove your black manta helmet so that you can stop seeing things through a red filter.

I say this because I wonder how you missed the stellar acting in Black Panther plus the visuals.

Then again, villains only see hate clearly.

I wonder how you missed the terrible CGI in the film.
People get blasted in BP and they fly across the screen in outlandish fashion.
BP in costume runs and moves like a PS3 character.
Don't get me started on the Rhinos, that was one of the worst CGI I have seen in MCU.
How did you miss all that

Acting was not stellar in any way.
Acting was just average to okay.
Tchalla was bland and uninspiring, MBJ carried that movie.

yep. It's sentiment. Sentiment that Blackmanta already addressed.

If you're talking about acting trust me, there are better, like much better acting than black pata sorry, Blackpanther. James McAvoy's acting in Split is way, like way better than all the cast in blackpata, so sorry, Blackpanther.

And yes, the people who connected with the story did so out of pure sentiment. Like is it today we've watched movies about a man seeking vengeance from his cousin because his cousin's father murdered his dad... yeah typical nollywood.

So what are you yapping about Mr?.

For you to say Tchalla was uninspiring, it is clear that you are heavily biased. Tchalla!!! of all people!! You are insulting the king? Bros, you fuckup!

The CGI was not great in the movie. But the movie was not about the action per se. This is what you need to understand. The visuals were the african settings, and the clothes.

Furthermore, if CGI is your problem, then you should discount a lot of superhero movies- both marvel and dc. Take a look at hulk in the iron buster in avengers or Tony stark when his helmet is off in the iron suit.

The only reason you are saying that Black panther is like nollywood is because it has black people. The storyline is comparable with Aquaman. Come and say that aquaman is nollywood, let blackmanta come an roast you alive. Nonsense.

Black panther did well in showcasing African tradition, the beautiful aesthetics and wonderful costumes.

Do I think Black Panther was hyped to some extent? Yes

But do I also think it genuinely deserves the excitement it has generated? Yes

I understand its cultural significance but I also get that most people outside of Black Americans are grading it as a standard superhero movie and not based on its cultural ‘essence’

I personally really enjoyed it though and thought it was a good movie. Not the best, but also not the worst

BlackManta
Just thought I’d mention whilst I agree that black people sometimes play the race card, you can’t really compare a black and white person’s ‘racist’ experiences that you’ll be saying black people pull it more than whites, c’mon now, at most white people face discrimination, some prejudice here and there but not the systematic type minorities face that actually means something lol ^.^

I mentioned you so that you could see proof of my argument in our previous discussion. Those who have the privilege of not living in a white dominated country and facing racism are by definition going to be ignorant of racism and many race related issues.

Many Nigerians who have never lived abroad for at least one year will come here and start talking about race! What do they truly know about race?

Also, I never said that black panther was the best movie ever.,It remains a great movie though.

Do you know that black panther is the second highest earning Marvel movie when adjusted for inflation? This is according to box office mojo-

BP is average to okay.
BP is overated and didn't deserve the praise it got.
It was praised like a masterpiece and it ain't even close.
Blacks are sentimental about this movie, Africa has not been portrayed well in Hollywood so you can understand why folks including you are sentimentally attached to this movie.
Critics know this very well so they over praised the movie so that no one would accuse them of racism.

This movie is being pushed by SJW's.
That is why it got nominated for drama at the golden globes.
A nomination it didn't deserve.
But it got it so that blacks wouldn't feel marginalized in these awards.
It lost the award and people started playing racist card, so imagine the outrage if BP didn't get nominated at all.

I maintain my stance that movies should be praised and given recognition cuz it deserves it not because of black cast or black whatever.

Imagine Crazy Rich Asians winning golden globe just because of its predominantly Asian cast.

How would that feel.?

These are the points I made in my first comment and yes these points are legit.
I don't understand why you picked fault in it.

You sir are sentimentally manipulated.

Fine... I may have overstated.

But I don't want Black Panther getting nominations undeservedly simply because it has black cast and the sentimental value placed on this movie by SJWs and political correctness advocates.

You can't nominate BP for best drama at golden globes just because of predominantly black cast and cultural significance.

If BP should get nomination why don't we open a new awards category called "best movie for cultural significance and predominantly black ".

Why nominate BP for drama when it doesn't deserve such nomination....why.

The undeserved praise and rave reviews were there to avoid racist cards.

Enough of trying to be politically correct and pandering to the SJWs.

Let's stop blowing things out of proportion cuz of sentiments.

This is major points I need to pass across.

Anybody who finds problems with these points is obviously sentimentally manipulated.
Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by troubleseller: 8:04pm On Jan 09, 2019
TF? BP should not have been even on the shortlist for best drama at all. It was just put there because of relevancy on the part of the awards. The Globes messed up on that one. Commercial success should never be used to judge movies. Black Panther was average. The only reason it got so much traction is its relevance in today's conversation. If we want to talk about award yardstick (story/script, portrayal of characters, directing e.t.c), BP was nothing special as most superhero movies are. And our aunties and uncles in the abroad who think those at home cannot relate to racism, lol. Na English be the problem. Tribalism and racism are basically discriminations. Those of us here face tribalism while those outside face racism. It's not so different and tribalism, to me, seems even worse because it's coming from your own countryman.
